The Ricky Hatton that beat Kostya also got a ton of help from the referee in that bout. When one fighter is allowed to use his elbows, head, and whatever else when the other fighter gets cautioned for legal punches ... hard not to win. We've seen what a difficult time he has had in the States when his uncle isn't the ref.
Same fight in the USA at the same time has an entirely different outcome. If Hatton vs. Manny comes off I'd like to see Meade put his money on the line. I'd be more than willing to take it. |

I know it is ... love the comparison Holyfield vs. a washed up Tyson .... if anything that is a good comparison only because Hatton fights like a washed up Tyson ... although I would never compare Manny to the piece of dirt Holyfield.
Maybe Ricky will order some Roids under the name Dick Tonhat. (sorry low blow ...couldn't resist) Love how you throw out that Kosta couldn't knock Hatton down but forget that Eammon McGee did and Floyd KHTFO ... light hitting Floyd made Hatton do a chicken dance. Of course Hatton will probably lose to Malinaggi making the whole thing mute anyways Last edited by mh2365 : 06-30-2008 at 08:53 PM. |

Pretty sure if the fight is in the states the ref won't give little Ricky two minutes to tie his shoe at the exact moment he is going to get KO'd .... like his uncle did against Lazcano. Seriously have you watched a Hatton fight since the Kosta fight?
He was in a life or death struggle against Carlos Maussa for cripes sake Then he straight lost to Collazo. Urango had him wincing in pain and holding on for dear life with every body blow Castillo quit Floyd KTFO and Lazcano had him on queer street in the 10th round when Ricky's uncle stepped in to help him I can think of 4 to 5 LW's who would stand a better chance against Pac Man than Hatton ... heck Valero has a better shot at beating him. |

It could be that Hatton's weight gains and losses in between fights sped up the erosion process. It's true though, he's not the same fighter any longer. Manny could fight at the same weight (135 lbs) and probably outspeed and out punch Hatton. Hatton isn't a one punch slugger, his reflexes aren't great and his body has more mileage on it, too. I wouldn't bet any hard money on Hatton with this fight.

There's already talk about Manny facing Valero so the Hatton fight might be put on the back burner for the moment.
FWIW I think Manny smokes Hatton inside the distance. I do agree with Meade on one thing........Niida will be in too deep against Gonzalez. Last edited by a87star : 07-01-2008 at 12:57 PM. |

If Malignaggi comes in focused........he should have no trouble winning a clear UD against Hatton (if the fight is in the US).
Bradley would get a stoppage victory against the "Hitman" no matter what continent it took place on. |

You guys are all smoking something......The notion that either Malinaggi or Bradely have shown anything to suggest they would beat (or stop) Hatton just isn't a reality....
Hatton would beat both...and do so clearly.......... He will beat Pacman IF the fight happens.........PacMan will get stopped at 140 by a great number of guys.......I've been a fan of PacMan since his Fly Wt days....when I hated seeing him get KO'd by Singsurat.........but he will get beat and stopped at 140.....Just watch........He beat Diaz, who is a decent fighter.....he is nothing that special at 135. A solid win.....but where some are taking this victory is laughable to me......... Last edited by meade95 : 07-01-2008 at 01:17 PM. |

What you don't seem to understand is that we aren't really elevating Manny ... I, for one, just think that an always way way way overrated Hatton is now a shot fighter and has been really since the Kosta fight. A fight which he got a lot of help in to win.
I agree that there are several guys that probably beat Manny at 140 ... Hatton just ain't one of 'em. Hatton has fought exactly 1 "A" level Prime fighter and got KTFO ... so I'm not sure why you are so excited about him. He had a lot of help beating a "very post prime" Kosta ... was in a life or death struggle with Maussa. Lost to Collazo (although the judges say differently), was hurt by every body shot Urango threw and spent the last 5 rounds holding on for dear life ... was out on his feet against Lazcano when the ref held the fight up for 2 minutes to first cut some tape and then at Hatton's urging another minute to tie Ricky's shoes. I'm not saying Malinaggi beats him but I wouldn't be surprised. I have no doubt Bradley beats him. |

Hatton's lifestyle has really eroded his skills. The drinking and poor eating habits then the weight drain to prepare for fights finally caught up with him.
The last great performance by "Hitman" was against Kostya Tszyu (with help from the ref). Ever since that fight......it's been a struggle for him and if fighters like Lazcano are able to trouble Hatton.....it may be time to consider retirement. |

I honestly think Diaz would give Hatton all sorts of trouble if the fight was in the US.
There are several LW's and JWW's that I think give Manny a much tougher fight than Hatton would. Like I said above, Valero is a tougher fight for Manny than Hatton will be. |

My guess is Hatton won't take the fight ... he turned down his biggest paycheck ever when he turned down ODLH. I think he will keep fighting guys he is pretty sure he can beat over in Manchester and then retire in a year or two. He strikes me as smart enough to know the writing on the wall.
Although he might think he can beat Manny since Manny is smaller and go for a big paycheck but I doubt it. Manny would be a clear favorite to win against Hatton also ... too bad though I would have loved to win big on it. |

Speaking of betting odds ... Ricardo Torres is getting 3.75 to 1 odds against Kendall Holt on Saturday night. While I think the fight is a pick 'em 3.75 odds against someone he has already beaten??? I will be placing some $$ on Torres.
