Pac Man - Diaz PPV (spoilers)
Recording it tonight to watch tomorrow morning ... I think Pac Man struggles and gets a bit of a gift decision ... I believe 135 is too much for him.
Fields beat Barrett also |

Fields lasted all of 57 seconds against Barrett, got hurt and floored and rolled around for a bit before getting up at 8 in no shape to continue . . . back to fighting cans for "Big Sky" Tye
Wildly enteraining bout in the opener . . Steven Lueveno D12 Mario Santiago and Lueveno retains WBO Feather title. Both guys went down in the second . . Santiago landed a few more heavy shots, but got behind early, maybe 40-36 and had to dig himself out.

Francisco Lorenzo DQ4 Humberto Soto . . .kind of a strange call
Soto beat the piss out of Lorenzo . . he was bleeding like a stuck pig, maybe broken nose and the reason Joe Cortez ruled he couldn't get up was a tap Soto gave him on the back of the head while Lorenzo was down (which was the second of the round and looked like Lornezo did it on purpose) . . this after Cortez broke them twice during the round, seemingly to look at Lorenzo to possibly stop the fight for Soto by TKO . . . bad night for Cortez Anyway, upsets are the order of the night . . . Diaz over Pac Man next?? Sheesh, I hope not anyone out there looking for updates?

His power may have dropped a smidge . . he hit Diaz with every punch ever invented and it took nine rounds to get him out . . or maybe Diaz is just that tough (he's pretty frikkin tough)
But the one thing that clearly didn't go away was Manny's quickness. He threw almost 800 punches in 8 1/2 rounds, and really looked natural at 135 . .not fat, bloated or anything, he looked great. Manny softened him up quite a bit by the ninth and landed a left cross on the chin and Diaz landed on his face . . Vic Draculic waived it off without a count . . I'm not sure he would have gotten up, he was pretty shot Very impressive outing for Pac-Man and a pretty good card

Manny hit Diaz with a punch sequence that reminded me of what Floyd hit Gatti with. |

But, there is actually some evidence he's getting better with age/weight, so I'm not sure. His offensive package is much more diverse than it once was . . ultimately I guess this is an issue that will need to be setlled by time. My reason for thinking about this: About 75 fighters have been given an OR-12 rating (I have 75, could be a couple more depending on where you default guys I guess, but I haven't looked all that closely) . . is Manny part of the best 76-80 fighters of all-time? He's pretty close . . again, may need the perspective of a couple more years.

Congrats to the Pac-Man! No doubt we're looking at an all-time great. Hated to hear about Tye Fields. Really thought he would last longer than 57 seconds; especially vs a non-puncher like Monte. Admire Tye for stepping up, but if he can't get out of the first round vs a guy like Barrett...
![]() I was kidding before about the big guy pursuing the WBE version of the heavyweight title, but, after tonight, it looks like a viable option. On the bright side, 20 years from now, when that big red belt is hanging on his mantle, he can tell the grandkids how that he was once "heavyweight champion of the world" and no one will know the difference. Wish him all the best.

More bad news for Tye. It appears as if our beloved WBE as we once knew it is no more. Looks as if they've been absorbed by the WPBF. Even their free "tripod" website is gone. I guess that no one will be paying sanctioning fees through paypal any more.
A moment of silence please, for this tragic turn of events... ![]()

Great points! Yeah perspective of time will/would help but this may be a 1 fight pit stop @ 135 on his way to meet Hatton @ 140. Hard to believe this guy started out @ flyweight because he looked so good, solid @ 135. |

Okay everyone remember when Manny was a great fighter ... That was one of the most dominant performances against a good fighter I have ever seen. WOW ... before the fight I said stepping up to fight Hatton is probably too much but now I think he takes Hatton out in 5 or 6 rounds because I don't think Hatton is as tough or as good defensively as Diaz is.
WOW .... Soto got screwed ... the other guy played that glancing blow to the head for all it was worth what a p***y. I do not like Soto at all but man he got screwed. Tye Fields ... too bad I always liked him. But he has stepped up to fight okay fighters twice and gotten blown out both times. Great first fight ... had draw written all over it ... WTF was the one judge watching? |
