New To Board

Hello!

I've been playing Title Bout since 1978 and bought the PC version of this game about 5 years ago. I love the new version and just discovered this discussion board. I am now using version 2.8 and love it! For some reason, the fighter pictures I downloaded aren't showing up, but everything else is great.

With Title Bout, there's always a good fight on or right around the corner. No cancellations, no long waits. You've gotta love it.

It's disappointing that Boxing isn't as popular as it was in the 70's and 80's. I guess someone will make a MMA game next? But as a supporter of Title Bout for 30 years, I hope playing it for another 30 to come.

JJ

Thank you, everyone. It's good to be here. Seems like a good place to pull up a keyboard and a beer, maybe a few pretzels and chips? I was a kid when I first started playing the Title Bout board game with Larry Holmes on the box cover. That was in 1978! I turned two buddies onto the game and the three of us played hundreds of fights. Those were the card-turning days. We even made our own card fighter ratings and had them laminated.

We'd talk all kinds of smack during the fights. Sometimes we'd eat, crow, too. Like I did when Joe Louis got kayoed by Floyd Patterson in the 2nd of a scheduled 15 rounder.

Sometimes I'd wonder what my fascination was with this game. It practically became an extension of the sport itself. The thought of not watching a fight on TV and not playing the game were basicially one and the same.

In my twenties, I told a few girlfriends that I played "this game" and that I'd played it since I was a kid.

Then, as time moved on, I told my wife that I played "this game" and that I was playing it since I was a kid.

In my thirties, my wife tried to throw out the old box game, but I said that "I wasn't ready to make that kind of decision yet."

Now, in my early 40's, just a few weeks ago, I told my new girlfriend (no the first wife isn't gone due to TBCB issues) that I've played this game for 30 years!

After I did so, I said, "If people out there are proud of being Gay, you better believe I've got every right to be proud of TBCB and how long I've been a supporter!"

Welcome aboard! I used to live in Trenton. You should come up to the International Boxing Hall of Fame inductions next year.

Welcome Jim, I have also been a player of the board game since it came out, and I still have a copy, but I believe it didn't actually come out until 1979, but I could be wrong.

I'd love to go. My father has a friend who lives about 10 minutes away. I'm going to try to get there next year.
