#27 does not change anything relevant. #26 was important because of the changes to the strategy code. But #27 has just some changes on the credits screen and a minor change to the "linker settings". The linker is a tool which creates the exe file, and the changes should make TB a little bit faster. Just a minor change, tho.

OLD-tb2.5.exe Then, install the new one and it will automatically install with the correct tb2.5.exe Then, if there is any type of mistake or problem, your original file from before the upgrade is still in the original folder. That way, you can restore your original settings if any problems arise.

I'm way late on this, but none of it is working for me. I installed the one that Andreas listed as 2.5.26 and it says 2.5.25 on my screen, that worked fine. So I tried the 27 one, changed the name and downloaded, plus pasted on the old one and I'm still stuck at 2.5.25. |

How is the game with the beta upgrade?
I did not buy Title Bout thinking that (given the lack of forum messages and the out-of-date 2008 webpage) that the game had essentially died.
This latest beta . . .does that mean the game has its fans? Still a good game? Or are there just a handful of players who tolerate problems because there is no better boxing game? Implicit question: what disappointment might I face if I buy this? I love boxing, at least as it used to be, and love computer games. Advice, please? |

Jackyle that got it thanks..
McGuiser yes the game is kinda outdate but the people here share a lot of tips strageties, fighters, venues and so on and they give a lot of great ideas for starting up universes. The main problem is that everyone has been waiting for Title Bout 3 for going on 5 years now (at least) a lot of people wants a better RPG format than what is currently offered others like me wants a RFG for teh judges, announcers, cornermen etc...This patch is not a beta its a fully functioning game. As far as disappointments if you are buying this for eye candy (EA sprots) then yes you will be disappointed. This game is better than anything EA can put out because you have to stragetize your bout (if you want to most just simulate the bouts) and thsi is not a joystick happy game either. Its mainly text but it is fun and in many aspects more realistic than EA. They still have the demo on here somewhere give it a spin and see what you think. Any questions just ask. Also the reason why we have been waiting for 5+ years is because the mainstay of this company delivers a roidball (baseball) game every year I used to play teh very early versions until MLB threatened a strike/lockout in 2002 and their main issue was (from teh players) we test for ONLY what drugs we want to test for and WHEN we want to test it. That blew up in their faces in 2005. I have been exclusive hockey ever since. |

Thank you for your reply, which answers my question nicely . . .
. . . and leads to another: is OOTP likely to do a Title Bout 3:0? My guess would be that a boxing strategy or management game would not have a big market, and OOTP is unlikely to invest the time in another iteration. And the baseball game, obviously a wonderful and popular product, seems to require a lot of company attention. Anyway, I'll give Title Bout a try as is. I'm far more interested in strategic complexity than in splashy graphics. Thanks for your help. |

well 3.0 has been bickered for the past 5 years at leats now. Everyone here would LOVE to see it. And OOTP is the companys bread and butter I would still play it if I still liked roidball. But at leats give it a try its better than most anythign else out there boxing wise and you are welcome.

I'm intrigued by the phenomenon of gamers' increasing importance to game design (by creating mods, identifying bugs, testing beta patches, etc.). This seems less important to OOTP than to some other games (e.g. the brilliant War in the Pacific - Admiral's Edition) . . . but I wonder if Title Bout is one of those games with enough competent fans to go for 3.0 by getting some of the coding and other work done pro bono by gamers.
That's easy for me to ask, since I do not have the skills to contribute myself. |

I remember seeing some offers on here to do just that. Now in the past I and at least one other I can recall has made random fighter generation sheets (before the RFG came out) and others have done specific injury rules in their universes. Way back when when Title Bout was just coming of age on the computer it was great with dedicated programmers but those programmers moved on and this game was sold and edventually acquired by OOTP and since then it has taken a back seat. Which is sad really because it only needs a few more things. I remember EHM (Eastside Hockey Manager) that literally blew EA out of the water and when they released the final version for sale they blamed the pirates for lack of sales (actually it was totally lousy marketing here in the US and Canada that killed it) That was a really great tough challenging game. I'm sure edventually someone here will created a good managerial add on (probably in excel) and it will work for a lot of users. Me personally I have no use for it for I have specific guidelines for my fighters and its only ONE TITLE (another thing that is totally wrong with boxing) but until then point is is to have fun with it expierment (I use fictional 1000% in all aspects) and see what works for you.

The game as it is is still quite fun. And with the imagination of our various contributors (check out the inside the ropes section) we have hours of enjoyment following one another's work. They are currently working on 3.0, but it's going slower than planned due to some r/l issues by the main programmer. I still have hopes that we'll see something new before the end of the year, though my understanding is it'll be 2.6 or something like that, then 3.0 sometime next year if all goes according to the plans of the powers that be.

This sounds like good news to me (assuming that 2.6 or 3.0 comes along before dementia does).
Not to wish for too much, but I would drop OOTP baseball in a moment for OOTP basketball, with the gamer being able to select plays and otherwise direct players . . . I imagine many gamers love that aspect of basketball but are not interested in role-playing shots and blocks. As for the piracy issue, that sounds like a serious problem in general, but surely other companies have come up with good solutions -- not like Silent Hunter, which ruined my optical drives and drove me away from Ubisoft. |

piracy has always been a problem from mega great Microsoft to little peons. But inifinity is correct the game is still fun and I do play it from time to time just more happy with my 100% ficitional than doing real boxers for the more random factor.

Updating rating's
Hi,
I'm new to TBCB, but noticed right away many boxer's have a 0 rating. I'm changing them so they at least have a 1 or sometimes a 2. My boxing knowledge is very good so I'm pretty good at doing this. I was just wondering under the organazation there are 9 listed, 5 for men & 4 for women. But you go into the rules section and you have many more organazation's list; Example USBA but many fighter's start in these lower organanation's, but they don't have title's! Are we going to see titles for these lower organazation's? Or if if I create them in the Organazation will title's automatically be created? I was thinking about this during the Viloria/Nino fight last night, because on the undercard many fight's were for NABO titles in different weight classes. Cause many fighter's never leave those lower organanation's! Just an idea for a new patch to round out the boxing world!!! Take care, RAM67 |
