Tyson Documentary

If you haven't watched this, you absolutely need to. Its unbelievably good. Gripping at times - I personally watched it twice back-to-back last night.

Tyson Documentary

Was this the one that was in theaters for awhile? Is it out on DVD? Or is it playing on one of the movie channels? I haven't run across it yet, but I would like to check it out, thanks.

I waited a long time before watching it. I finally watched it about a month ago. They did a really great job with it. I even watched the DVD extra's. Tyson may not be formally educated, but he's not as dumb as his actions have implied. Listening to him articulate what was going on in his mind through the different periods and episodes of his life was really fascinating.

I really hope good things happen to the guy from here on out. His name should still enable him to make money promoting things like the EA Sports game and other similar things.

I believe it was at some theaters - not sure. I saw the DvD and get it from Red Box of all things, and I hate to admit, I knew nothing about it until I stumbled onto it Friday night.

Go check it out - You will not be disappointed.

Totally agree when you say he wasn't the dumb animal that he was painted as.

How about his commentary after Givens outed him - in the most humilating, heinous way - on Barbara Walters.

The best thing about it is that he isn't portrayed as some sort of tragic spectacle either. He ****ed up, yet he is willing to be brutally honest about it. That's what I took away from it. And no, I never thought he raped that girl - he knows he ****ed up as a person in other ways. To this day he beats himself up over it.

Of course, we lean to any protagonist - whether he's a dickhead or not. I felt as if, as a fan, I'd pretty much gone full circle with him before I watched this, so maybe I walked into it with an bias, not sure. But the director definately didn't go out of there way to make you feel for sorry for him.

I agree it was very insightful, And you are correct they made no excuses for him and he made no excuses for himself, Even my wife enjoyed the documentary and sees him differently then she had prior to seeing this.

The opening sequence of the film is fantastic, amazes you to think how much devastation he could cause in todays heavyweight division, a true legend of the sport.
