Steve, would have appreciated a spoiler warning instead.....
Still, that said, nice win for Haye. Cap

I see this as a good thing. Haye is the type of fighter whose personality will polarize people, but he will at least add some excitement to the HW division, since he does demand attention.
He also fights at a quicker pace than most of the division and has some pop too. Will be interesting to see if he can generate a following in the US. |

Dola
Just watched "highlights" of the fight, not very entertaining at all. I suppose Haye did what he had to do to beat someone that big, but if he fights future opponents like that forget all I said in the post before this one. |

The fight was horrific to watch. The best part was when Valuev was staggered in the last round.

The saddest part about all this is that Ruiz gets another shot at the title once again. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the man is the herpes of boxing. Just won't go away.
I might add that I find it fascinating that people visit boxing sites when they clearly don't want to know the result of a fight. Spoiler warnings or not, stay clear of boxing sites if you don't want the outcome of the fight spoiled. Easy as that.

I give Ruiz a decent chance and beating Haye. The new champ should try to cash in as soon as he can with a fight against Wlad in England or Germany. It would draw 60,000.
Haye had the physical skill set to defeat the slow giant (speed, movement) but he doesn't know how to fight. He is basically a playgirl model that the fitted with trunks and a set of grant boxing gloves.

Ruiz could give Haye trouble only because he is so experienced and is good at the mauling tactics he employs. Haye has some power and would need to throw 3-4 shots at a time and move. Get Ruiz frustrated and force him to take chances, then start to sit down on his punches and rock him. In this scenario I say Haye by late round TKO.
I do disagree with IceTea in that I think Haye could be a solid fighter, the issue is he likes to mug for the crowd too much and thinks he is the second coming of Pernal Whitaker with his hands at his waist all the time. He just wastes too much energy trying to be cute. Limit the dancing, work on moving from the waist more (his reflexes are certainly good enough that he would be better than average defensively this way) and work combinations from different angles. If he doesnt fix the hands at his waist issue, sooner or later his chin is going to get checked and there is a difference between getting clocked by a 245 lb HW vs a 190 lb cruiserweight. |

I haven't seen the fight. I was ready to cough up the $24.95 for the pay-per-view, but family engagements kept me from even finding out if it was available on my cable system Saturday afternoon. Judging from prior Valuev fights and reading about this one, I wonder if it's possible for anyone to look good against him, or vice-versa. His lack of concussive power prevents him from being very interesting offensively, while his size and (for that size) athleticism make him tough to hurt, much less finish.
I'm not surprised Haye was able to outpoint him, given his inability to solve Holyfield. I don't hold out a lot of hope for Haye against either Klitschko, either. But please, let him beat Ruiz ...

From what I managed to see of both fights, it looked like Holyfield had a more solid win over Valuev than Haye did. I'm hoping for Haye to do well, but not very impressed with what I saw.
I agree with Tea, forget Ruiz and go for a fight with Wlad. That's where the money is. |

Ruiz was down to 227 in his bout that night, I don't think Haye can beat him. If you watched Haye against the Valuev, his hands were down and he would throw two punches and move away from the slow counter shots. I can't remember him throwing more than two punches at a time in that fight. Haye has a weak chin and he knows it. Ruiz will lay on the inside and force Haye to fight at closer quarters which isn't his game. Ruiz is the wrong fight....he should request a fight with Wlad for big $ before he gets KO'd.
