A Strange Question...
You sit down, start TBCB 2.5... choose your fighters and start the fight.
What goes on in your mind? Do you hear Michael Buffer doing the pre-fight announcement? Or do you hear Jimmy Lennon Jr. Or, Jimmy Lennon Sr? All three were unique. Do you visualize the ring and the crowd around the ring? After the fight, do you imagine an interview. Is there anyone in particular interviewing the fighters... like Larry Merchant? I'm sure it's a coincidence that I thought about this after having a few shots of whiskey .I don't care what they say... Canadian whiskey beats the stuff from Kentucky. .

Depends on the era -- hard to get past Buffer for modern-era superfights, even if I find his act annoying and, having seen him at work close-up a few times, can say he displays little interest in the sport or tolerance for the peasants around him.
For the 40s through the 70s, it's Jimmy Lennon Sr. Before that, it's an anonymous guy with a somewhat high-pitched, street-wise voice (with a small megaphone for outdoor arenas). As for the scene, it also depends on the circumstances. When possible, I like to find a picture of the venue involved, ideally at the time of the fight I'm simming. Thank you, Internet ...

I don't visualize an announcer, but the venue and the crowd are crystal clear to me. When a fighter goes down I can see him take the shot and slump to the canvas. I visualize the cornermen working between rounds. When a referee stops it, I can see him embrace the defeated warrior and say "That's all for tonight, son."
I don't see the post-fight interview, though. Maybe because I'm not big on trash-talking. As far as the whiskey is concerned--Canadian or Kentuckian or Irish, it don't matter to me. One thing I'd love to see in TBCB is, when a fight is stopped or a fighter is KOd, the guy who won should raise his arms in triumph. Some better punch-landing sounds would be very welcome, too. The in-fight screen should also show the date. Please, Andreas, add a couple of things to the game.

Definitely Michael Buffer for me. I hear the crowd and try to picture the fight happening as i read the commentary. I really love this game and hope that Jade's updated spreadsheet will be out soon so i can jump back in. I really enjoyed the uni i had running before to test the spreadsheet out but some of the shortcoming caused me to stop. With the upgrades that have been mentioned i think this will help to fill some of my holiday free time.

Like most of the guys who posted above, the ring announcer is tied to the era in my mind so it varies. But unless I'm in the Ali era or later (Cosell), I'm always hearing Don Dunphy calling the blow-by-blow at ringside.
Since my interests, unis, and sims rarely go beyond the late 1970s, I don't think too much about broadcast media pre- or post-fight interviews or analysis. Typically, it's the print media guys in the dressing room after the fight for me. But then I have Skip Bailey in my unis, so who could ask for anything more in terms of interviews or analysis?

As a Chicagoan I hear Ben Bentley's voice in my mind.
Good memories associated with Ben.

I usually imagine whose calling the fight. Howard Cosell, Al Bernstein, the HBO crew, O'Grady & Albert, Pachecho & Albert, Clancy & Allen, etc.
For ring intros I go with Lennon Jr. or Buffer. |
