What did we lose?
I guess Andreas would be the best person to answer this: when the site was down yesterday, what was lost?
The previous day, I posted the results of a match between George Chuvalo and Nino Valdes which was in my "A Partial Eclipse of the Sonny" uni at "Inside the Ropes." I know that it was there because Mad Bomber offered a comment. Today it's vanished! Not a big deal for me to rewrite it and post it again. But before I do so, I was wondering if there's going to be some restoration effort. I think we also should get some sort of assessment from Andreas concerning what else is lost and what can be restored. Finally, yesterday was somewhat of a mystery. Maybe there's an explanation elsewhere in the forum and I missed it. If not, I thinks we'd all like to know what took place.

Thanks Bear! By the time that was posted, I had pretty much given up on trying to get into the forum, so I missed it. Nevertheless, next time some advance notice would be appreciated.
Still, I'm just wondering what might have been lost in addition to some posts in the threads, but I suppose that this might take a little time to do an inventory/assessment. The reason I bring this up is that if there's a loss of some critical stuff---ratings/pictures etc., most of us have backed up files and stored the basic items. If we know that something of this nature is lost, we should have the collective information to make it available again |

When the crash of '05 happened, the back up that was restored was quite old; serveral months if I recall correctly. I personally lost about 500-700 photo posts in that one.
As I understand it, this backup is from Sunday night so any losses, while still annoying, should be minimal. |

The crash of '05 taught me a great lesson: always keep copies of your dynasty/universe posts! Although I hadn't made a post in TGPiS during the period of time that was wiped out, if I had I would have been able to simply re-post it because I have every single post I've made saved in notepad format.

Certainly a lesson for all of us here! Back it up on a regular basis.
![]() I've pretty much mined the old stuff and saved it, so I'm okay. I just hope our newer members don't lose access to some the great things that have been posted here and at Cornerwork.

Unfortunately I didn't back mine up, although I've learnt my lesson now
![]() I'm not sure how you back them up, and would be very grateful if someone could explain it to me. |

It's then a simple matter of copying and pasting it to the forum. I'm also posting the uni at Mike's site. At first it was because he couldn't comment on it here but I also see it as an insurance policy. |

I lost 2 UTBA-II EOY Tournament results posts (LHW and MW). I have the MW post saved on notepad, but since I was only using one notepad file, I overwrote the LHW results w/ the MW results.
Fortunately, I still have my handwriiten notes for the tournament and can reconstruct the original post. It's a bit of a downer, but I do like the idea of saving each post in a separate folder. I will try and remember to do that in the future |
