Auto-ageing
Hi guys,
just a quick question, I've set up my universe with auto-ageing and the following paramaters (curtosy of Conn Chris) ----Pre rime 1 to 4 bouts ----Prime 10 to 25 ----Post prime 20 to 60 ----End 10 to 20 ----Retired 8 to 20 my boxers all started as beginners - I manually changed them to pre-rime) and are have now fought between 8-17 fights each however only one has changed automatically from Pre-rime to Prime ironically after getting knocked out! All the others are at Pre-rime and I have around 4800 current boxers. I hasten to add 80% of my boxers have had 14 fights or more and would have expected a lot more than one to change even though it is early days Having said this I did change them all manually from beginners to Pre-rime. I'm starting to worry that they won't automatically change, could I be doing something wrong or have forgotten something? ![]() thanks Sounds Last edited by Sounds; 01-11-2012 at 05:00 PM. Did you actually "run" auto-aging on all the fighters?
25 fights is a lot to possibly be spending at pre-prime. These are my settings: Beginner 5-10 Pre-Prime 10-15 Prime 20-30 Post-Prime 10-15 End 5-10 So the possible range of fights in a career, from the least to the most, is 50-80. My uni is set in the present day, so I've taken that into account when setting up the parameters. I actually have a problem with my uni, in that I didn't run auto-aging on the fighters at the beginning and have been adjusting them manually the whole time. I'm gonna have to bite the bullet eventually and go through the list of fighters and assign a current career stage to them and then run the auto-aging so I can stop doing it manually, although I might only do this with the fighters who are early in their career still. |

Hi Sounds,
From what I've read, it sounds like your fighters will continue to advance to the 'prime' stage. I say this because you had the one fighter advance (regardless of the KO loss). As per your parameters, it looks like fighters in the 'pre-prime' stage will spend at least 4 bouts in 'pre-prime' and then move to 'prime' anywhere between the next 5-25 bouts. Some will approach the advanced career stage quicker, some will seem to take forever. Then, some will spend a very short amount of time in 'prime', as some will stay 'prime' right up until the deadline of your parameters. I really hope this helps. If any part is unclear, just let us know. In re-reading my previous paragraph, it seems kind of confusing. Last edited by dragon29; 01-10-2012 at 10:37 PM. Reason: error |

auto ageing
Thanks for your replies and yes Dragon I did understand what you were saying
The latest from my uni is that a second fighter has now gone into his 'prime' it would appear that the auto-aging, which I have running on all my boxers. Kenyan I may change\lower my career stages, as you infer the modern boxers don't tend to have more than about 80 fights. If I (can) change the settings now, will it just effect the new boxers that start and those already fighting? Another question would be although the fighters are set to retire in line with the settings, is there something built into the game for say a small random number of boxers to fight more or indeed fight less before they retire? Final question is when fighters do retire do they just sit on the database, do or can you do anything with them? Sounds |

Sounds,
If you change the settings now, I think it would start to take effect on all fighters that you have included in the auto-aging. Thats a good question and I don't know the answer, but I think your universe would adapt the new parameters/settings once you change and save them. I'm not sure I understand your 2nd question about the fights before retiring. As far as once fighters become 'retired': Assuming all of your participating fighters are 'active', once they retire, they will move to the 'retired' group. You could always manually activate them after they retire, which would switch them back to the 'active' group. So, after they retire, you still have the ability to use them. I'm not good with sticking with universes. I delete and start universes on almost a daily basis. I spend a lot of my freetime coming up with new universe ideas that I try. I also import a lot of fighters and photos and cornermen and research records for specific years for tournaments. So, like many others, I spend more time adding and experimenting with the game than actually 'playing' the game. Check out the 'inside the ropes' thread for great universes with longevity and systems in place. |

I've had the game for about 7 years and in that time I've only run two universes, both of which were chronicled in Inside the Ropes. First one had about 250 heavyweights plus maybe 60 from each of the other divisions.
Second one is linked in my signature. It started with 56 fighters in each of the "classic" weight classes but has gradually expanded. My main reason for running a uni has always been to tell a story in Inside the Ropes, which is why I've only ever had two unis. |
