What "Groups" Do You Have?

I am really starting to get back into TBCB. As I am always looking to tweek my Universe to make it more interesting, I was wondering what "groups" do you have in your universe?

I know how to use groups so these questions are just to gain info to compare how we all use groups to make our universes better:

What is YOUR favorite ways to use groups to give you better enjoyment of the game?

What groups do you use to advance your fighters through their career?

What groups (Organizations) do you have if you have Regional Titles?

Thanks for ANY input!!!

The only groups I really use are in Europe. So many countries & I use those usually when a fighter is a former world champ or recent title challenger. Also for the really low rated guys (1-2's) who probably won't get world title shots.

Also like the groups in Great Britain, with Wales, Ireland, Scotland, etc.

In my uni, Richard Williams was just destroyed by Cotto in his title shot last month so he'll try to rebuild his career/image trying to win titles in Europe.

Most of my groups are regional or continental: Asia-Pacific, Africa, Europe, Former Soviet Union, North America, South America, etc. I also have some national subgroups like United Kingdom, USA, Mexico. In addition, I have groups like Commonwealth. I also have a Club Fighters group for my bottom-barrel guys.

For the several fighters whose careers I'm trying to direct, I have a North Coast Gym group to make it easier to keep track of them.

My uni has only one belt per division...

Active Fighters:
"Main": Fighters rated 8 or higher.
"Club": Fighters rated between 3-7.
"Tomato Cans": Fighters rated 2 or less.
"Beginners": Fighters at beginning stage whose prime rating is 3 or higher.
"Young Guns": Fighters at Pre-prime stage whose prime rating is 3 or higher.

Retired Fighters:
"Champions": Those who have held a belt at one point in their career.
"Non-Champions": Those with 1600 or more Performance Points at retirement.

How do you guys actually use your groups? I first segregated my fighters in "era" groups dependant on the periods of their active careers. I added fighters from each era to the main group called "1890-1950" as time passed within the game. I'm still using TB 2.0 for reasons of my own, so I only have two groups per fighter. I recall that Chris had a good method for organizing his boxers, but for the life of me, I can't remember it in any detail.

Geez, I use way too many groups... but I use them for organization for creating new fighters as much as anything else.

I do it by, Gender, Country (Or multiple countries), Region, and sometimes belts (Such as PABA which only encompasses certain countries)

I have a world group that includes all active RL fighters that are prime

Sub groups for different geographical regions (North America, Europe, etc)

A beginners group where fighters stay until they reach prime and only fight tomato cans

Active cans group, game generated tomato cans that fight until they reach prime, then are retired unless they have a winning record. Those with a winning record join the World and region groups and fight through a normal career

Men group where all RL fighters stay until they debut and move to beginners

A Master Cans group, for game generated tomato cans until they debut and move to active cans.

Retired group, for retired fighters

I love the diversity that all of you have when it come to groups!

I have tried boo koo ways to move my guys along by using groups. These are my favorite two ways of using groups

My First Group Plan:
I have three types of groups

1. Every fighter is placed in a Regions group when they enter the universe
that corresponds to their home country or nation:
(AABF, APBA, EBU, LABO, NABA)

2. They are also placed in a Talent Group depending on their Boxer Rating:
Tomato Can group ("0" rating)
Club Fighter group ("1-2 rating)
Journemen group ("3-4 rating)
Trialhorse group ("5-6")
Gatekeepers group ("7-8" rating)

3. The third group is Prospects groups. New Fighters move up through 3 "PROSPECTS" GROUPS:
-Fighters at Beginners Stage fIght Tomato cans
-Fighters at Pre-Prime Stage fIght Club Fighters
-When a Fighter reaches Prime Stage they fight either Journeymen, Trialhorse or Gatekeepers depending on their rating when they reach Prime.

At 20 fights, fighters are RANKED. If a fighter makes the TOP TWENTY he is moved to the presigious WORLD GROUP where will fight other WORLD Class fighters in an attempt to win the GBO WORLD TITLE.

This system has worked well for me BUT I really wanted to take advantage of the REGIONS GROUPS a little more. It just seemed realistic to me that a true Tomato Can or Club fighter would probably never leave their Home Region to fight. This led me to my second plan on using groups.

NEW PLAN FOR GROUPS.
1. Every fighter is placed in a Regions group
(AABF, APBA, EBU, LABO, NABA)

2. Every Group fights Eight Times a Year so I made a "calendar" spreadsheet.

3. I auto schedule like this Example:
a. Set the date
b. Set Red Corner to : AABF with min rating of "2"
c. Set Blue Corner to: AABF with max rating of "1"

That way when I start auto schedule it will have all fighters with a rating of "2 and up" only fighting fighters with a rating of "1 or 0". All within their home region

I do this with each region as they are scheduled on my calendar.

The key is that fighters only face fighters in their region until they reach prime and are Ranked. Once a fighter becomes a TOP THIRTY fighter he is moved to the WORLD GROUP.

In the WORLD GROUP fighters battle each other (fighters from all over the world) to move up to be a contender for the GBO WORLD TITLE.

I kind of like focusing on fighters staying in their home regions fighting each other until they improve enough to move on to bigger and better paydays and opponents.

I only started needing to use the Groups recently and they are not based on geography or career stage but on the actual competition within the IBL that each fighter is in. So I've got the World Championship Conference, the WCC Qualifying Tournament, the International Conference and the Development League. I also have a group for ex-IBL fighters and another group for non-IBL fighters, which are prominent fighters who have been a feature in the uni but have not fought under the IBL banner.

I sure hope Paul is able to at least fix the few annoying 2.5 bugs with the release of 2.6! I'd like to try the multiple groups idea again. Different class stages: Local stage, regional stage and world stage. Sounds like some of you boyos use groups like leagues of a sort.

(Right now in my AU its sometme between 1940 and 1950, and Rocky Marciano is champion, having taken the title away from Jersey Joe Walcott and retained it against Joe Louis. The British Empire champion is my own lad Nova Scotia's Bud MacEachern, "The Coaltown Scrapper". He's even had 2 cracks at the world title. The first a draw with then champ Walcott, and the second a terrible mauling at the hands of Marciano.)
