TBCB Update: 2/3/03
Hello Everyone:
(1) Things are heating up as we prepare for the last 6 to 8 weeks of work on the title (let's hope). Tom should be posting a new screen shot of the "Venues" page. It is just a rough draft until the "pros" at .400 get to it but it will give you a good "feel" for the way we are improving the game from both an informational and graphic standpoint. (2) Also, by tomorrow, I hope to be able to list the names of the 125 current heavyweights that have just been re-rated. Approximately 50 fighters were expunged and names like Anthony Thompson, Gerald Nobles, Clavin Brock, Atila Levin, Taurus Sykes, Brian Nix, George Linberger and everyone in between added. You'll notice that we are making a big effort to include prospects and rejects alike! LOL. (3) Added emphasis is being placed on categories like clinching, missing punches, and professional progress. After "x" amount of clinching in a round and then, cumulatively, in a fight, points will be deducted by the judges (behind the scenes, of course). Missed punches will have even more affect on stamina. And if a fighter like a Malik Scott or Dominick Guinn haven't fought in anything more than 8 round bouts, fighting a 10-rounder will have a big affect on them. This will come into play all the time; however, it will be a prime consideration when YOU are doing the match-making with either real or ficticious fighters in the role-playing portion of TBCB. (4) We have also made -- and this was mentioned before -- major changes to the scoring algorithms. There will be 20 to 25%fewer 10-8 rounds; 30% fewer Even roudns; and 70% fewer 10-7 rounds. More next week . . . |

I really can't recall the last time I saw a 10-7 round. I think there should be more of them in real life. Why have a 10-point system if you only use three?

60's Fan, I'm not sure if I understand your statement about 10-7 rounds. If you knock your oppont down twice in a round and are clearley dominating the round the judges would have to acknowledge the 2nd knockdown with a 10-7. Do you not agree? This is my first post long time lurker and a long time fan of TBCB

I agree that the possibility should be there but it should be an extremely rare occurance. Now days, with the safety of the fighters in mind (cough, cough), bouts are usually stopped and TKOs awarded before a 10-7 round can be scored.
