Jones will have to pick and choose his fights at the higer weight. He was just so much faster than Ruiz. Ruiz wasn't nearly aggressive enough.

Ruiz ranks towards the bottom of all time champs. I would rate him somewhere below Leon Spinks. He is a nice guy, but he just isn't aggressive enough.

I had always thought Ruiz was a good fighter. Kind of boring to watch and not that talented but a good fighter. After watching him last night I lost complete respect for him as a boxer. He showed so little heart it was stunning. He appeared terrified of a man 35 pounds lighter than him. If he would have just tried to push jones up against the ropes constantly he probably could have won. On the other hand Jones fought the fight he wanted to perfectley. He easily out boxed Ruiz in the center of the ring. Even with that said I dont feel there are many heavyweights out there that will allow Jones to fight that style agaisnt them. So I figure he'll only be champ untill he fights a heavyweight with some balls.

RJ at #7
Fightnews.com has Roy ranked at number seven overall in the Heavyweight division. What does everyone think?

You really cant Rank Jones to high because he still would not stand much of a chance against the superheavy weights of the division, Like lewis, Klitshco, Mcline and so many others who wiegh in at over 250.

7 sounds more realistic than #2 to me. Luis might not have been a great champion, but he also wasn't a total bum either. He was a decent fighter that was beaten handily by Jones. I think there are 4 or 5 guys in the division that are better heavyweights than Jones right now, but that's about it.
I think Jones-Tyson would be the biggest draw out there for either guy, so it's possible. Money talks and that would have the potential to be one of the biggest money fights ever. |
