converting from TF2001
If this has been addressed already I apologize...
How are things going to work with converting the fighters and records from TF 2001? When I started with TF, I had to manually type in ALL my fighters records from the previous version of the sim (as well as create quite a few, some I never got around to). This was not only tedious, but I now have a majority of fighters with big records, but only a partial listing of opponents. Will there be an "upgrade" option? Also, will the ranking system be calculated the same as it is now? |

This has been addressed in passing by both the programmer and me. Andreas (our main programmer) is far better equipped to answer this in detail but he has stated (and assured me) that prior stats, etc. will be able to be converted from the prior version to the new version. How it will work is a mystery to me, but if Andreas says it will be done, then count on it.

Concerning the Ranking System
The ranking system will take into consideration only the fighter's last six fights. The major problem before was that some fighters could build an insurmmountable lead and never be replaced in the rankings. For example, Muhammad Ali goes 45 and 5. Joe Frazier comes in with a record of 20 and 2. Frazier and Ali fight each other three straight times and Frazier wins all 3. The chances are good, depending upon the overall competition level of their respective opponents, that Ali (45-8) would still be ranked ahead of Frazier (23 and 2).
Under the new system, let's assume that in Ali's last 6 fights he was 6-0 and Frazier was 4-2 and their competition was of equal caliber. Let's further assume that Frazier wins 2 out of 3 from Ali. Frazier (6-3 but having beaten Ali twice) would be ranked ahead of Ali (7-2 but having lost to Frazier twice). |

I appreciate the response Jim.
Sorry if you had to repeat something you addressed numerous times before, I should have searched the posts a little more. The updated ranking system sounds good, six fights seems like a fair amount to go with. Pretty interesting to see how far this sim has progressed over the last 10-12 years. |
