Paul Thorn
just curious if this guy is in the archives? He's a singer/comedian now who is on the Bob & Tom show quite often, but he's an ex fighter who lost to Roberto Duran at one point in his career .... he's quite funny

Hmmm...speaking of comedian/fighter, I don't know if he ever fought as a pro but I remember Bob Hope was a fighter going by the name "Packey East" in his early days. Just thought I would throw it out there.

thanks jim .... I didn't make any attempt at finding info on him, he has a song call "it's a great day, for me to whup somebody's ass" that's a riot ... I figure he had to be okay to get a fight against Duran but he could of been a "bum-of-the-month" fighter too ... actually here's a link www.paulthorn.com

Boxrec has him with an 8-2-1 career record. Welterweight/middleweight with whose biggest win looks like a 12-round decision over Knox Brown, who was a decent journeyman. Duran knocked him out in 6, but it was in 1988, when Duran still had something left, so that's not that bad.
But if he makes it in, Tony Danza and Mickey Rourke should be there, too...Danza was a middleweight, 9-3 career, all wins by knockout and seven of them in the first. Only names on his record that I recognize are Johnny Heard, a career 'opponent' that he stopped in 3 in his last fight, and John LoCicero, who knocked Danza out in the first round of Danza's second fight. Rourke was a light-heavy, 6-0-2 against questionable opposition...only name I recognize is Terry Jesmer, and I barely recognize that one. And on the subject of celebrities, Jim, didn't you or your brother do a Title Bout card for Too Tall Jones back in the All Star Replay days? |

thanks for the info ... I'll check out the boxrec site .... to me Thorne and Danza are different then Rourke, just because they were boxers who went into acting not actors who thought they could box
