Referee's
I was wondering if there are any particular referee's people would like to see included in the new game. From a personal point of view I'd like to see the two Aussie's who refereed in world heavyweight title bouts in 1908, Harry Nathan and (Huge Deal) Hugh D MacIntosh included. From a more modern perspective, I'd like to see Aussie world title ref Gus Mercurio included. Even Wyatt Earp sounds like a good inclusion, he could pull a gun on Bob Fitzsimmons in the sim, just like he did in real life.!!!!!!!!!!
Cheers, Shane.

Question about Ref's. Will different Ref's have different styles that can effect outcomes? Like is there chances of one Ref easily DQ'ing fighters and others who count slower, or faster.
There's a lot of room since Ref's really do play a big part of a lot of fights and how they come out. Of course that could be a pain to implement, it could be an interesting side to look at.

Yes, all the referees have been updated and re-rated. We obtained at no small expense and a lot of effort, a complete report that provided us with a lot of detailed information on referees and judges. As far as refs go, they will now be rated in up to five categories (behind the scenes) for making errors and dubvious decisions, in addition to there normal ratings for strictness and fight stoppage tendencies. They will also be prone to errors - missing obvious fouls, miscalling slips knockdowns, losing track of time, etc. Now this won't be an every fight occurance or even once in ten fights involving the same referee but it will happen. The judges have really undergone an overhaul; some judges will NEVER score a draw round - because they didn't in over 300 rounds scored, for example. Others, can you say Melvi. . . never mind, will never be in-sync with the other judges due to a bias toward the fighters of high-profile management, etc.

About the refs, as most of us are not familiar with every ref, it might be best to use a random selection. You could also consider releasing a list of refs and their qualities, but you might be risking a libel suit.

Jim,
Speaking of Melvi... I thought I was the only one who noticed how awful she is. She is consistent though, I'll give her that. One ref I'd like to see rated is Jon Schorle of California. He's terrific.
