One of my favorites is the Marciano/Walcott KO (first fight). Almost looks like a cartoon, Joes face as distorted as it was at that exact moment.

Just to speak about one of the pics
Check the body out in that pic of Rocky
and note the left hand ready just in case
Now who was it said Marciano was in fact overrated.

Best not show the young ones here the one that Rocky hit Walcott with ( dont want them having bad dreams )

Ali thought he had a hard time with Frazier, well trust me Ali, Rocky would have been no picnic

Thanks for sharing those pics ChampMan.

Another point regarding the Marciano-Charles picture...Prior to that fight, Ezzard Charles' courage was brought into question for whatever reason by alot of boxing writers. Well, Charles sure proved them wrong and was the epitome of courage on that night. He absorbed tremendous punishment and would not quit, lasting the distance. I read an account somewhere that said that Charles could not talk above a whisper after the fight because of a blow that he recieved to his throat.

Another interesting little sidenote to that fight is the fact that the referee did not have to break the fighters one time during the entire 15 rounds.

And once again I agree with you Danny. If I was a betting man and was forced to bet against Ali, I would want Rocky Marciano to be the other guy in the ring.

To me thats what seperates the great fighters of the past from the fighters today it just seems for every Ward-Gatti type you have a million quitters with no heart, in the old days they took pride in just making it to the final bell, don't get me wrong im not saying that there wasnt quitters back then but not as many as today....
