Mixed Martial Arts (UFC) Simulator

I've been wanting to see a Mixed Martial Arts (Ultimate Fighting Championship simulator) for years...any chance you guys would have any interest in working on such a game when Title Bout is completed?

There is a Qbasic version of an MMA Simulator that I helped create, I've worked with a couple different programmers on it. It can be downloaded from http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mmatextgame/
if you're interested in trying it out. (join the group, go to the files section on the lefthandside, and download and install ultimate.zip...then download the other individual files and replace the old files with them in the ultimate folder to get the latest updates).

Anyway, there are so many similarities between a Boxing Simulator and an MMA Simulator that I thought you guys would be the best in the world at creating an MMA Sim. I've got many ideas for it. The main problem with the current version of the MMA sim is the limitations of Qbasic, we are unable to create any more fighters or add new features as the program is at the size limit for a Qbasic program.

That would be a pretty sweet idea. Might be something worth looking in to but I'm sure the guys making the boxing sim aren't looking that far ahead in to the future as far as other projects go. They still gotta focus on getting their boxing game out and making it the best it can be. It's a sweet idea though, lets hope someone runs with it.

Also it is much more difficult to 'rate' the MMA guys due to lack of televised fights and lack of fights in general. Plus, who would do create the ratings?

Teraxx, that part isn't difficult at all. There are enough hardcore MMA fans who are familiar with most or all of the fighters.

I've done the ratings for all of the fighters currently, and I'm pretty confident that they are about as accurate as they can be. I think we'd definitely benefit from having a team of raters, but for now it's just me and a few suggestions from people who play the games.

One great thing is that unlike boxing, I have access to talk to many of the fighters themselves...on occassion I've asked a fighter what he thinks his strengths and weaknesses and tendencies are. Of course I have to take it with a grain of salt and put things in perspective, as sometimes a slight bias happens when a fighter talks about himself. But you get the point.

However, I do agree with you that we need more televised MMA! And for anyone who is interested, on Sunday there is a PPV for Pride FC, it IS THE BEST MMA CARD EVER TO DATE. If you're an MMA fan at all you don't want to miss it.

I've tried this simulator out from the link that Bradu provided, and it's not bad at all. It's programmed in Qbasic, like he said, so the interface is very...well...basic. I don't know much about MMA at all, but the game seems to work very well and seems to have a pretty detailed fight engine.

Mark, thanks for the feedback. It actually is a cool game, but the user un-friendlyness keeps a lot of people from being interested I think. You need to have a bit of patience with figuring out how to get through all the options and set up fights, but I spent a lot of time and energy scouting fighters and rating them, and working with a programmer to make the actual mechanics of the fight as realistic as possible given the limitations of Qbasic.

We've been looking for a long long time for someone to step up and take this idea and format, expand on it and work it in VB or C++ or something far more user friendly and less limiting.

I've been looking through the code to see what would be involved in porting it to c++. That would definitely take care of yuor limitations caused by Qbasic.

Vyshka, that would be awesome!

If anyone is interested, I'm beginning a fantasy MMA league using the simulator...if you're interested in learning more, email me at brads-art@brads-art.com

Thanks.-Brad

can't beleive I found this thread I started 4 years ago, but as much as the sport of Mixed Martial Arts has grown in that time, I thought I'd check back and see if it's closer to a possibility.

There are a couple simulators out there now, but development on them has been very slow, and something like title bout would be perfect.

MMA Simulator for Title Bout:

1. Sim a Title Bout fight.
2. The first time someone lands a punch, pretend they are writhing around on the ground.
3. Repeat for 2 more rounds.
4. Dumbest fighter (measured by Intellect) wins.
