Referee add-on

Jim,

Is there any chance of having a referee add-on patch or type-ins for the game? (Just thought I'd ask).

Some ref's I'd like to see added are:

Gus Mercurio (1980's)

Malcolm Bulner (Current)

Harry Nathan (1900's).

Cheers,

Shane.

Who the hell are those guys, Arthur Mercante Sr. is still my favorite. He was the ref. in the Jimmy Ellis vs Bob Foster fight. He was a tough ex-marine. Foster threw a left hook that caught Mercante flush. He just shook it off and didn't miss a beat. Later on in the fight Ellis was swarming Foster and Mercante stepped in and stopped the fight to Fosters protest. Fosters trainer grabbed Foster and said let it go, your best punch didn't even hurt the ref.

Two of the names are familiar to me. In the histories and encyclopedias I've read, the names of Mann and Mercurio appeared fairly often in important fights of their respective eras.

Mark,
You said Mann. That's not on his list, I think you're thinking of HW Nathan Mann because Harry Nathan is on his list. I also believe I recall Gus Mercurio.

Ref's

Gus Mercurio was the best Australian referee from the 1970's-1980's. He refereed the only world title fight between 2 Australians in 1985, JLW Barry Michael vs Lester Ellis.

Harry Nathan refereed 2 world heavyweight title fights in 1908, Burns vs Squires III, and Burns vs Lang.

Malcolm Bulner referees in many world title fights in the Asia-Pacific region and he refereed Tszyu vs Leija. He is undoubtedly the best current referee in Australia.

As for Arthur Mercante Sr, I agree, the man is a legend amongst referees. I saw him referee live in some of Jeff Fenech's world title fights in Australia, and he was great.

Cheers,

Shane.

I meant Nathan (there was also a fighter named Nathan Mann ... guess I somehow transposed the names?)
Anyway, sorry.

Arthur is a friend and I often used to call him after a big fight to get his take on it. I haven't spoke to him in about a year. He's retired now but his son Arthur Jr. is a good ref.

Go ahead and use your best judgement and rate them Shane would be my take on the subject. I'm sure if others have a diffrent view of them it could be something worth talking about . I plan to add on some refs, venues, fighters etc. I'd love the input from others as knowledgable or even better more knowledgable about the subject than myself.

Nice story, dempsonny! The Rocky producers probably could have incorporated that material. Sometimes fact is stranger than fiction.
