Lt. Hvy Ratings
As I've posted several times, I love the friggin' game; however, in delving into the Lt. Heavy division I want opinions...Yaqui Lopez was tough but always lost the big fights, Marvin Johnson had no chin but was a 3 time champ...Lopez is an 8 and Johnson a 6? Harsh. Also Victor Galendez a 9 and a tough Mike Rossman who beat him is a 5...Harsh...I haven't changed any of your brilliant work but I would like to hear if you stick by this...I'm a Saad Mohammed guy myself so the 9 I think is fine.

I've been fascinated with that era of the LH division and given a lot of thought to the ratings of the top fighters. In my opinion, the best was Galindez. He was a pressure fighter with good power and a strong chin, but he was not always in shape and had a tendancy to cut. I would give him an 8 or 9. Rossman was a good boxer/puncher but his defense wasn't great and neither was his chin. I'd give him about a 7. Johnson was a pressure fighter like Galindez with a great punch, but had a weak chin. I would give him the same rating as Rossman, a 7. Lopez was a good all around boxer/puncher but was not exceptionally strong in anything. I'd rate him about the same as Johnson and Rossman, a 7. Any of these fighters would be able to beat any other on any given day. Galindez is probably the best, overall, but he was the most likely to come in out of shape and, if that happened, he could well lose (and did to Johnson and Rossman).

On the other hand, Johnson was beaten up by Saad Muhammad in two slugfests, and was dominated by Mustapha Muhammad and Mike Spinks, as Marvin's lack of boxing skills and weak chin did him in. |

Absolutely but Spinks was THE class of the division so throw that out and as I said Saad was my guy but Dennis Andries a 7 and Bobby Czyz is an 8 and Merqui Sosa is an 8...Marvin Johnson was not my "guy"...judging by this I believe a 6 is a bit low and I really wanted to know what their opinion was out of curiousity....

Let me update. I fought Johnson vs. Saad and it was a draw, I couldn't believe it...Now, I had Johnson win the belt and defend against Saad and LOST!!!! I can't believe it...Maybe a 6 isn't so bad...
