Weight Differences

I recently have been watching some classic fights on ESPN Classic network which replays old fights from the 50's- 70's on Tuesdays.
This week I was watching Mickey Walker competing as a HW. He did get KO'd in the 8th by Schmeling but he gave a good account of himself. In fact I believe he fought a 15 rnd draw with Jack Sharkey. Sharkey beat Schmeling and was beating Dempsey (albiet late in his career before being KO'd by Dempsey). If you were to move Walker up from the MW class the adjustments the game would make would get him destroyed. I think it's hard to make general adjustments in fighters. The best way would be to make the adjustment yourself after moving them up in the division. Every fighter is different. Maybe certain fighters put on 8 lbs of muscle and move up and actually increase power while others just can't make the weight and maybe lose power moving up.
Other things that I picked up on was that Schmeling was regarded as the hardest puncher in the division, that's what the commentator said during the fight. they also made reference to Sharkey's hard punching. In looking at their records I've upped Schmeling to an 8 HP and Sharkey to a 7.
