Just a suggestion.

I would think something has to be done about the problems regarding creating groups. For those of us that use the original 8 weight classes, we have to do alot of moving around from division to division. As it is now, you can only move one fighter at a time into a new group which needless to say is very time consuming. Also, when your done moving the fighters where you want them, you have TWO of each fighter when you are viewing "ALL" the fighters. Another thing, why cant you change career stages for active fighters in this version? I believe TF2001 allows that. The only way to do it is to change everyone to "retired". The game is great, dont get me wrong, but it isn't very user friendly towards those of us who like to create our own "universes"... YET.

Question: What exactly happens if you change a fighter from active to retired? Example: Dominick Guinn, who is in his pre-prime on the game. If I changed him to retired in my universe and then fought him at different stages of his career, would his ratings or performance go up or down depending on what stage he is fighting at? And if not, if I have to change ratings manually, what is a good formula for doing that?

Thanks in advance to anyone who answers or replies to this. Hey Jim, Tom, Andreas... awesome game.

In my universe, I also went with the 8 original & the process does take a lot of time. One thing that helps with the duplicate fighter issue is to create a separate database for your universe. That way, you can maintain one untouched database &, in the one you are using for your universe, just make the changes without worrying about copying the fighter. You'll always have a pristine database you can go back to later.

As for your question, when you retire an active fighter the game assumes that the ratings are at their prime. So, if you retire Guinn his pre-prime ratings are assumed to be his prime ratings for purposes of using the career stages function for retired fighters. Therefore, you need to make manual adjustments to the ratings to bring them to what you consider to be prime.

There is no formula for making this adjustment & we haven't been told the career stages formula the game uses. When the game was first released I made a very broad guesstimate of how the game changed ratings through the career stages in order to come up with an ageing forumula with some (albeit flimsy) relationship to how fighters go through career stages in the game. The thread on that issue should still be around somewhere.

I've been using the ageing formula for some time in my own universe, and it definitely overstates the punches/counterpunches for post-prime and end fighters. For beginning and pre-prime fighters it's all a guess how they'll end up anyway, but generally the formula adds about 3 ratings points to the fighter. To make things more interesting, I randomly select certain young fighters to give an additional ratings boost to allow for the development of elite fighters.

Click the options tab at the bottom of the title page. You can create a database or switch databases from there.

After you have created a duplicate database, though, the two databases are entirely separate. Currently, there is no way to copy fighters or fighter information between two already created databases (although I believe this feature will be included at some future time).
