Fighters facing every other fighter

Looked for a dynasty section but didn't see one so I'm posting this here...

I'm curious if anyone is attempting to have every fighter face every single other fighter in his division to crown an eventual winner. I started this weekend with the Heavyweight division. Here is what I do....

o Every fighter faces every other fighter (as the Red corner) in a 10 bout series.

o As a result, each pair of fighters fight a total of 20 times with 10 times as the red corner and 10 times as the blue corner.

o At the end, every fighter will have fought 9540 total bouts. There are 478 heavyweights in my DB. I deleted the two extra Ali's but didn't know that there were also two Foreman's and some other dupes. So each fighter has to face the other 477 fighters in a total of 20 fights each.

o I'm going through alphabetically, but I'm skipping (for now) any fighter that is rated 10 or higher (as the red corner). But, the 10+ rated fighters are still fighting in the blue corner when their name comes up. As a result, I get a better idea as to how the best fighters are doing.

With the help of the auto scheduler, I managed to rack up at least 400 fights for all fighters over the weekend (of course those that fought in the red corner already have over 4770 fights).

So far things are progressing as pretty much expected with Ali and Louis at tied at the top with only four losses in 400 fights (they've faced quite a few 1 and 2 rated fighters with just a handful rated 6 or higher so far). Marciano has been mired down around 12th thru 16th places most of the time, just when he makes a run to the top 10, he'll lose a couple and fall back again.

One guy that cracks me up is named Maness (from memory so I don't know if I got the name right). In 400 fights, he has only won 8 fights (lowest of anyone) and of those 8 fights, 5 are by DQs. Can't wait to see him get in the red corner so he ends up fighting another 4770 fights.

Eventually I hope to do this with other divisions also.

2 things.

I like what you are doing. I may try that when I complete the current ordeal I have created.

The "Inside the Ropes" forum is where stuff like this goes. Lots of good ideas of what people are doing.

Post your standings when complete. If I do this too, I will be curious to compare results.

Thanks for letting me know about "Inside the Ropes"

Yes, I do plan on posting the standings when done.

Tatric;
Sounds like a very interesting project, but a ton of work.

What I do is fight the game's fighters of a certain era against everyone they actually fought who is in the game, then create fighters for other ranked/credible opponents they faced who are not currently in the database, then have those fights.

Rocco Del Sesto is doing a career replay for a German heavy named Gerhard Zech, strating from his first bout. He has had to create many of the early opponents, but the guys Zech faced who are in the game are coming up around the 15-to-20 fight range. Because he is sharing his created fighters and others are posting heavyweights there, his string is on this board (instead of the Ropes board), and is called something like New Heavyweights ... Check it out.

To each his own ... Good luck with your project.

Yeah, it is some work... but one of the reason I chose to do it this way is that its all PC time, not much work on my part. The Autoscheduler allows me to schedule two different fighters in the red corner at a time (954 fights, can't go over 999). So it only takes me less than a minute to schedule and then I start it up. It takes my PC about 20 to 30 minutes to finish all 954 matchups (10 fights each), so I do other stuff while it sims.
