Most Surprising Ratings on the Game
I have to say that I was very surprised with some of the overall ratings of a few of the archived fighters.
The most eye-catching, in my opinion, was Riddick Bowe who rates as an overall 12 as a HW right there with Jack Johnson, and higher than most of the Black Fighters during that time period. What fighters, that were rated high, surprised you when going through the list?

I always hated Bowe but he was amazing in his prime especially in those fights he beat Holyfield. I haven't checked his rating but a 12 sounds good as long as he has a strong propensity to go into the fight distracted or out-of-shape.

And he relenquised his WBC belt just so he wouldn't have to fight Lennox Lewis. Bowe was skilled with impressive physical gifts, but his entire career was spent finding "just the right fight" for him. Lewis would have outworked him, Tyson, even in the time after his prison sentence, would have knocked him out. Never fought Moorer, Tua or Shannon Briggs or even Foreman. Even a stiff like Golota looked amazing against Bowe. He's broke now so I bet he wishes he hadn't ducked all those big paydays to fight the likes of Herbie Hide or Tyrell Biggs.

Bowe's problem was that he burnt out really fast. He beat a prime Holyfield 2x, he annhilated guys like Bert Cooper and Bruce Seldon and dominated decent contenders. But... He was demoralized by guys like Lewis(who he was afraid to fight) and Golata and had some questionable earlier performances.
I'm just saying he had to be a 12 to beat holyfield on those 2 occasions because those weren't lucky punch wins. They were 12 round wars that heavily tested both men's hearts. I think mentally, though, he was a mess especially late in his career so those distraction/poor training factors have to come into play. It's easy enough to drop his rating to a 10 or 11 in the game. -BT |

Riddick Bowe, a 12 ??????,he was scared of Lewis,
and as great as Holyfield was he could not handle the really big men. Also if Bowe is a 12 does that make Liston a 14 and Louis a 17. heh heh Greg

Bowe is a 9, Norton is an 11 vs a boxer 9 vs a slugger. Lewis maybe as high as a 10 with a suspect chin. If you want to have Bowe vs Joe Louis or Ali or Johnson you need to make him a 9.

Say it ain't so, Bowe!
I have a problem with Greg Page being a 10. That seems high when some of his similiar contemporaries like Thomas, Witherspoon, Dokes, Tucker, etc., are much lower, IMHO.
