When They Were Kings

I posted this over in the "Inside the Ropes" section of the forum, but figured I would shamelessly mention it here too.

Take a look:

When They Were Kings

Thanks,

I think the period between WWI and WWII was the best for boxing in this country. There was baseball and boxing, and I think you're right that the stars in those sports were far more popular then than they are now. I thought about starting my replay in 1919, but I have this weakness for wanting to start at the beginning.

I looked at starting in 1919 myself. That's when the Golden Age of boxing really began. But there is alot to be said for starting from the beginning. The bare-knucklers and the turn of the century fighters are very fascinating. I chose 1930 because it gives me an opportunity to recreate and, through this alternate universe, possibly revise a period that has been kind of relatively ignored in boxing history. Dempsey and Tunney had retired and things would be rather bleak until the arrival of Joe Louis.
