fighters.dat

Regarding the update posted on the website. Several questions.

1) Is that file more current than the file that comes with the original download to the game? Originally Downloaded game on release date?

2) If I download this .dat file and use it in my current game settings, will all of my fighter's histories be lost?

Thanks to anyone for helping.

Two Times YES.

1.) Some fighters are added, and some typos and errors were corrected. But the difference is not that big.

2.) Yes, if you overwrite your fighter.dat, your data will be lost. I suggest you copy the fighters.dat ONLY to your folder /Data/Default. Then it will not overwrite your data, it will only be used when you create a NEW database sometime.

Having patches or updates that overwrite your current stats in the game is not only unexceptable its totally insane. I totally love this game, but to spend hours running bout after bout and then having a patch replace everything rather than update what needs to be updated is just plain bad business. I have not loaded the boxer update patch because I am affraid of losing my current completed boxer stats. That is not only sad, but it sucks!
Still I love this game and am very happy overall with the game.
Thanks again for all that was done to make this game happen.

When it comes time for them to add missing and new fighters, I hope there won't be a problem merging them with the present groups. There is no way anyone here would want to wipe out hours and hours of work and fun.

Andreas has said that he's going to work on a way to add individual fighters to databases without writing over the whole thing. Hopefully we'll see that in the next patch.

Andreas has stated that the individual fighter imports will eventually be a work in progress but that they are not currently planned for the next patch. He may have every intention of either adding this feature prior or he might try really hard to get it out within the very near future. I do know that he would like very much for people to have the ability of updating their databases without losing any customization that they might have already done.

If new fighters get added in an upcoming database update...and they can't be added to an existing database without killing it....I would love to see the added fighters ratings and info in a text file so I can manually add them myself...until the problem is solved of course.

Yes, that sounds in the least doable and should help smooth things over with any fighter updates until the individual import ability becomes available.

I have never patched because of this. Too much work would go down the tubes.
