New Public Beta 1.1.6 - "Sticky" Career Stage

We've released another public beta, which offers some of the most wanted additional features like the "Years Offset" and the new field "Currently used Career Stage" in the fighter records.

ATTENTION: THIS IS A *BETA* VERSION
Since there are some changed and/or new fields in the fighter table, the program will convert this table when you start it! This is tested, it works, but we just want to be absolutely sure that we don't kill your fighter database before we release it, and so we made it available as a public beta version.

The fighters.dat file will be copied to a file named fighters.bak in the database folder before the conversion starts. If the conversion fails, just replace your damaged fighters.dat file with this fighters.bak file.

MAKE A BACKUP of the fighter.dat file! You'll find one fighter.dat file in each folder inside the /Data folder, which is in the TB program folder.
The easiest way is just to make a copy of the whole /Data folder. Then you can restore it by simply copying it back.

Here is a list of the changes:

- Game Options: Import TF2001 added
- Fixed a bug in the venues site rating edit control
- Added db.ini file to the databases
- Added "Years Offset" to Game Options
- Added more parameters to the rankings code, so that the rankings of the major organisations will be more different
- Only WBA, WBO, WBC, IBF won't rank fighters who are champions in one of those organisations
- Enhanced scoring function, so that more 10-7 results will happen in case of multiple knockdowns
- Added field "Currently used Career Stage" to fighter records for the Career Stages (now you can choose an individual career stage which shall be used as the default for each retired fighter. Not for active fighters, because you cannot adjust the career stage of active fighters)
- Added value "Get from Fighter record" to "Career Stage" drop-down in auto scheduler (no need to select a specific career stage for the fighters in the auto scheduler. In the future this field will default to this new setting. The value which will be used will be the current career stage for active fighters, and the career stage choosen in the new field "Currently used Career Stage" for retired fighters)
- Added ringcard girl pictures to those pictures displayed between the rounds. They will be used randomly.
- Replaced "generic" names of Referees, Announcers, Trainer and Cutman with "real" names. Instead of "Referee", the game will now use "Jay Referson" and so on.
- Fixed some ranges of the Venues ratings Site Index, Price Index, Seating Capacity
- Fighter biography will be copied now when you copy a fighter record
- The unofficial scorer will take away a point for a foul now
- Fixed a bug which caused that the fighter condition status "Fatigued!" was not displayed sometimes.

This is the download link: http://www.mirror1.ootpdevelopments.com/tbcb/tb1.exe

Please download the file and replace your tb1.exe (in your TB program folder) with it. The new version number 1.1.6 should be displayed in the main screen.

Please give us some feedback regarding the file conversion function in this thread. Thanks!

Andreas,

The file conversion worked fine for me. It is great to be able to control career stages with the autoscheduler now. Thanks!

Andreas,

One question. In the autoscheduler, on either the Red or Blue Corner screen, if I select "Let the scheduler select fighters," what career stage will be used? The value "Get [career stage] from fighter record" was added only to the "Select fighter manually" option.

Andreas:

I downloaded patch but when I try to execute the patch it gave me the following error on my desktop:

This application filed to start because elicen40.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

Dont understand. I have the game loaded..it works fine. I even loaded the first patch.

Can you explain this problem. Thanks.

Earl:

Same thing happened to me because I was trying to open the download in my download file (which has always worked before). What you have to do is put the download into your actual "Title Bout Championship Boxing" folder. It'll then tell you there's already a file by that name, so you just have to replace it with the new one. I think that's what Andreas means when he says, "replace your tb1.exe (in your TB program folder)." Anyway, once I did that it worked for me.

Woo hoo! Got my first ring card girl & my first 10-7 round in the same fight.

The sticky career stages have been working great . . . it really makes setting up fights more pleasant.

But please Andreas..or someone..Jim..anyone..when is the condition ratings going to be fixed for many boxers in the game. Remember alot of them had no ratings.

Thanks a bunch!!

Max..can you do me a favor with the new fix..try fighting Nino Benventui and Sugar Ray Leonard in their prime. Sugar Ray one in this updated game..wonder with the bug fixes for the latest patch will it make any difference.

Again thanks.

Andreas,

I have some questions regarding the changes you mentioned above.

What does the db.ini do?

"Years offset" is fine. Will you be stickying dates in the patches later this month? The years offset doesn't help remind me of the last date I used.

Where do I see "Currently used Career Stage" in fighter's records? In the history? I can't find it. Help. (I see 'career stage', but I don't see 'currently used career stage'.)

Thanks.

Earl, which fighters don't have conditioning ratings? I haven't seen any.

That bottom left side section on the select fighter screen in the autoscheduler is not just for selecting fighters manually. The settings there also apply to letting the the scheduler select the fighters. If you try it you will see that if you select to have the scheduler select the fighters, you can still change the settings in that lower left side section so that they still apply. Hope that makes sense. So you can still use "Get from fighter record" even when letting the scheduler select the fighters.

Mark: It's actually called "Default to Use" and it's right underneath the "Career Stage" pulldown on the Fighter page. However, it shows up only for retired fighters.

Maxx,

Name is Martin, not Mark. But due to the accuracy of your directions on where to find this, you are forgiven.

Thanks.

Earl:

Based on Andreas' list, it doesn't appear as if this patch made any individual fighter adjustments. However, I went ahead and ran the Benvenuti/Leonard matchup anyway. Using 15 rounds at their primes & repeating 1000 times, I show Benvenuti winning 54.4% of the time.

Sorry, Martin. I guess those ringcard girls have managed to divert my attention just a little bit too much.

The db.ini is there to save database specific settings, like the "Year Offset".

Sticky dates are added now for 1.1.7, just did it.

Andreas,

You are turning me into a 'fanboy' of this game. I am ashamed of myself.

Thank you. Well done!

Do you need to install the patches in sequence...or just the last one. I looked at my game and it is a 1.1 (I think)

Since all that is being distributed is the executable for the game it shouldnt matter. If I remember correctly the first patch contained both an updated executable and updates for the db directory. I doubt it would be a problem to have the initial files installed, throw in the 1.1.6 version of tb1.exe into the TBCB folder, and then put the db files from 1.1 into the default db folder.

JeffR...look at Roy Jones as LHW...under his ratings he has a conditioning rating of 1..this is just on example.

I passed it on to Jim and he was going to look into this.

Andreas..is this conditioning rating problem going to be in the next patch. I just gave one good example above.

Thanks.

Mad Max..thanks for being a sport and fighting Nino...
