Public Beta TBCB Patch 1.1.7

Dear TBCB fans,

I've just uploaded the TB 1.1.7 public beta setup file. Following changes and additions have been made:

- Fixed ranges of Seating Capacity (Venues ratings)
- After adding a group from within the fighter record screen, the drop-downs will be re-loaded, and you can now add a new fighter to an empty group.
- Added function to export/import fighter records
- Added function to export fighter data into XML files
- Added function to export fighter data into XML files and to open them automatically using the web browser
- When the fighter database is exported to HTML files, a single file will be created for each fighter
- Added "Sticky Date" to all date fields
- Added filter for "Career Year" and "Fighter Group" to title/ranking screen
- Fixed: in the HTML output of the bouts the fighter's default condition has been printed instead of the actually used condition.
- Increased the chance that accidental head butts occur and that bouts are stopped due to them
- Added "Red Arrows" and links where they make any sense, to open record screens
- Changed wording of verdicts for Unanimous, Split and Majority Decisions to add suspense
- Made some changes to the commentary database
- Fixed some minor bugs

The patch comes as a setup file this time. It will install new commentary databases to the /data/default folder. It will also copy the latest fighter.dat file to the /data/default folder. But it will not overwrite the files in your own data folders.

The patch file will overwrite a template file, so if you made changes to the TB template files (folder /Templates) be sure to make backups.

Also, since this is a public beta, be sure to make backups of your data folders before you install the patch. If any problems occur, just restore the saved folders. TB will copy and convert all files automatically as needed, so the whole process is pretty easy: just make backups, download the patch, start it, choose to install the files into your Title Bout Championship Boxing program folder, and start the game. No need to uninstall or unlicense anything.

Download the public beta patch here: http://www.mirror1.ootpdevelopments...._patch_1.2.exe

BTW: We're still working on the game, so don't be sad if something is still missing which you're waiting for!

Have fun, and please give us feedback! Thanks for your help.

Cheers,
Andreas

Andreas,

I love the sticky date. It makes me happy.

You write about exporting the fighter database to html files. I don't see where you do that in the game. Am I blind?

I assume that the export of fighters is to be used for importing them elsewhere (such as sharing fighters). Is that correct?

Is there a plan to have the export to csv files? Or is there any way to read the tbdx file?

Keep up the good work!

There's now an "import file" option on the fighter edit screen that reads the .tbdx file and creates a new fighter in the currently-open database.

Nice work, Andreas, I think we'll start seeing a lot more people rating fighters now that we can import them one at a time.

Edit: one suggestion, it'd be even better if it was possible to select multiple tbdx files for import, and have them all added to the DB in one step, rather than having to hit import over and over to do them one at a time.

Thanks for all your hard work, Andreas, and your promise to continue working on the game. I'm looking forward to the fix for the rankings, the championship addition with title belt pics, and the random refs, cornermen, judges, venues, etc.

As for the new patch, I'm still trying to figure out why the retired fighters have two career stage options....

The second career stage field "Default to use" is meant to set a default career stage which shall be used for a fighter when you schedule him for a bout.
For example if in your boxing universe a fighter is at the end of his career, you can set the value to "Post-Prime" or "End". When you set up a fight that fighter will automatically be set to that career stage. Also when you schedule bouts and set career stage to "Get from fighter record" in the auto-scheduler, the career stage for all fighters will be taken from their field "Default to use".

For active fighters it's different, because you cannot adjust their ratings to another career stage in TB. They are rated for their current career stage, and adjusting it as if it was "Prime" would result into wrong ratings.

Yes, you're right! That has to be added. I will also add the possibility to set a value for "Group" to be used for the newly imported fighters.

Thanks for the bug report! Anybody else experiencing this?

Obviously your comm...dat files have not been updated. Which database are you using? It's displayed in the main screen like "Database: myDB". In the folder /data/myDB (or however your database's name is) what is the exact size of the commentary.dat file? Should be 1.566.139 Bytes.

I am using myDB. In the folder the size of the commentary.dat file is 1.566.139. It is also dated with today's date so it was updated when I installed the patch today.

Was it something I said?

I see responses to things that have been posted in this thread. That is the way it should be.

What I don't understand is I asked a question or 2 on some things I didn't understand in the patch and there is no response to them.

Was it something I said? Or, am I just invisible?

I feel hurt and rejected and I shall now go slink back into the hole I came from and keep quiet.

Carry on. Sorry to intrude.

Andreas,

I re-installed the update and it seems to be working now during tournaments. Thanks for your help. I'll let you know if I have any other problems/bugs.

Thanks! I knew there had to be a legitimate reason why I find that many of my legitimate queries go unanswered.

Perhaps I should change my avatar again?

In the Fighter screen when I click on "open as XML' it fires up my Dreamweaver 2004 program and not my browser.

Andreas, I just fought two 3-round fights and at the end of each I got that Fatal Error message: ClassID not found in getCommentary. I clicked the [OK] button a few times and it disappeared. When I clicked on [Proceed] it went to the Verdict screen. There was the usual blurb "Ladies and gentlemen we have your whatever...", then there was a long pause, and finally it announced the winner by unanimous decision without giving the scores.

By the way, I see that we now have rankings for individual groups. Good show. Too bad the regional titles idea will need a separate filter and I don't know how hard that will be to come up with.

Ok. That makes some sense, but then what the heck is the first career stage field for? Does it have something to do with setting up a fight and the career stage field there?

Just fiddled with importing some of the old TF2001 fighters into my new universe database that I am setting up and I am overjoyed...my old stuff is now easy to add w/o all that retyping...uh...re-keyboarding! Great work

This will greatly aid the community in adding/trading fighters and the universes will multiply...
