Control Factor Question
I noticed tonight when I was simming some fights that in the pre-fight analysis html page, the control factor ratings for some fighters were different than the control factor rating for the same fighters in the game. I'm sure there is a reason for this, but I can't find it or remember it. (The fight is set with both fighters in top condition).
For example, George Chuvalo (who else) is rated in the game as a 9 vs. a boxer and a 10 vs. a slugger. I noticed tonight when I threw him up against Chris Byrd, the html said that "Chuvalo, a Slugger, has a Control Factor of 8 vs a Boxer, and a Control Factor of 9 vs a Slugger". How did he lose 1 CF point against both boxers and sluggers when fighting Byrd (a boxer)? I have never noticed this before. I tried this with Buster Mathis vs. Byrd, and Ali vs. Byrd. Both Ali and Mathis both dropped 1 CF point according to the pre-fight analysis. Byrd does not change. I have not noticed this dropoff before. Could someone please explain this to me. Thank you. |

I think the game may adjust CF upwards when both are below 10 so that the better fighter would have at least a 10. If let's say fighter A has a CF of 5 against fighter B who has a CF of 3. If the CF's remain as is you are taking away fighter A's advantage. Here's why; Let's say a 2 pt punch was landed by the better fighter with the 5 CF who is in control. The game now checks to see if he maintains control. It picks a random number from 1-20. The better fighter has a CF of 1-5 so if the # comes up between 6-20 he's going to lose control. He therefore has a 75% chance that he's going to lose control against a lesser fighter. I believe the game will adjust both CF's upward so his chances of maintaining control are at least 50% since they should be against a fighter with a smaller control factor.
A fighters aggression I believe may change CF but Tom, Jim or Andreas can probably answer that better. Gus

In the old Board Game if a fighter was both a boxer and a slugger
If he decided to fight as a boxer then his hitting power was reduced by 1 It can still work of course to the fighters advantage because the other guy might have less control against a boxer. I think it gives a more realistic game myself. Not sure if its in the comp game might try to get it pushed in depending on what you guys think This is where the number in the old game were handy, you could tell right away. |
