Whats The Future of Title Bout
I have mix messages on how far this game is going..or not going.
Seems I have heard much from Jim and Tom..jump into some of my strings and give me some help and insight guys.. But anyway..just curious. I know they talked about a revamped website here..maybe a primer to help folks understand and enjoy the game. More updates for fighters...the role playing thing..etc. |

We here Earl love the game, but when it comes to sports simulations boxing is well down the list. That is why we ourselves need to tell all our friends who have the slightest interest in any sort of fighting games about how good this game is. Only then can our beloved boxing game continue to have a future. |

I am hoping gamespot.com will do a review since they just
did one of Total Pro Fottball from 400 Software Studios. I believe they have a page for TBCB. I think getting some good reviews from game sites like that could help boost sales. |

Last week, I wrote into the RING about the program. I'm hoping they print it, or at least give mention to the program. I'm working on e-mails to different boxing related sites, a few boxers and others in the business like TITLE and RINGSIDE products. I figure it can't hurt.

As the saying goes..."Reality Bites"....the reality being, no sales, no future. Yeah,...you could say that I payed good money for this game, so why is it on me to market TBCB? I would pose the question, why not?!! The passion displayed on the boards here, good,...and bad when the game was delayed spoke to the fact there "was" alot of excitement and anticipation as we awaited it's release. I for one am glad they waited and got it right. Is it perfect? NO! No way it ever can be to all people. In my mind this is way beyond anything I had ever hoped for and getting better. If each of us could harness 1/4 of that passion/excitement and direct that towards telling others....well...who knows? Were it not for the Trunzo brothers efforts in bringing a life long love for the sport of boxing to fruition within the framework of this game we would all still be flipping cards! (not a bad thing..hehe) It's true that boxing & boxing sims is a "niche" sport, for whatever reasons. We all could list many, however I think there is a large group of fans just under the surface whom if they only had a clue as to the quality and scope of this product would buy it. At least thats my hope and feeling.OOTP Developments is not excatly EA Sports, (thank goodness) so any help we can give Andreas & crew, the Trunzos as repayment (not to mention the many members who contribute photos/fighters/history...ect) for the years of pleasure I will derive from this game. E-mail the game sites, local newspaper sports editors, radio sports talk show's...whatever. Check out the TBCB store and buy a sweatshirt with the TBCB logo. I'm going to have my kid silkscreen the words "go ahead ask me" just below the logo..hehe It's gotta be a good game when the wife asks me nightly,.....you gonna get some sleep or what??!! ![]() Last edited by Hootowl 9 : 02-16-2004 at 01:53 AM. |

I love introducing people to games I love. Sadly, most people I know are complete jerks when it comes to games outside the mainstream. In fact some people that are allegedly friends go out of their way to rip the piss out of me for liking obscure games. They make fun of me because I actually venture outside the box and play games your average WalMart doesn't stock. If it's not put out by Infogrames (they'll never be Atari in my book), Activision, Vivendi Universal (Sierra, Blizzard etc...) or EA, they're not interested and would not try it, and when I try and introduce them, they basically treat me like crap.
What really sucks is some of the games I try and do that with are NOT that obscure, and are actually very popular, but because they don't need the latest graphic cards to run and aren't currently being hyped, their opinion is they obviously can't be any good. Dicks... Needless to say, introducing them to Title Bout is about as worthwhile as trying to save the Titanic with a mop and bucket. Their loss... |

Sadly, they're fun to game with, and aren't the usual munchkins on the net. Just too bad they're total sheep when it comes to games... |

Something I was thinking about and not too sure how hard it might be to do but if the game was offered in Espanol. I wouldn't have the figures to back it up but I would think the Hispanic market is the most passionate about boxing as a group. (besides us of course) : )

I told "the dean of boxing referees" Arthur Mercante about the game. I told him both he and his son Arthur Jr. are in the game. One of his sons called me to get the websight so he can check it out.

this isn't a "game." You're never going to get "gamers" here...face it. You need to love boxing and statistics and such...I am a long time "gamer" but I am also an adult and a HUGE sports fan. I love stats and debates and what if conversations...mainstream gamers want graphics and what's new and what's next...we need boxing fans here, we need sports fans here, we need adults who can appreciate what this program can do. It helps if you're a reader with an imagination and an interest in other worlds, stories, characters. etc... dOes the youth of the world spend a lot of time reading other than AOL IMs??? Nope...
For my money this "game" is everything I hoped for... |

As per usual you are spot on. (You are like the Roy Jones of this forum - No wait!! That might offend you!! More like the Willie Pep, very rarely off target!!).By the way do you know that sales are well below expectations or is this speculation? As Danny says it is incumbent on all of us who enjoy TBCB to spread the word. Word of mouth is often a powerful form of advertising. I have emailed everyone who I know has even a passing interest in boxing with the link for TBCB and would urge everyone to do the same. Dempsonny - great idea!! We need to spread the word far and wide!! |

It does worry me to a degree that the majority of posters here are from a small core (yet very devoted) group. I hope that there are many more lurkers who have the game and are happy with it, and therefore don't have much to say. I think this game suffers from the general apathy that most people have towards Boxing at this point. The sad part is that is many of the people who grew up as fans, or who have missed the age of Saturday Fights on network TV, featuring big names tried the game, I am sure that the passion would be rekindled or started in many of them. Perfect or not, this game is just plain fun, and has a great community contributing things to the experience.
Whatever the future holds, this release will stay on my hard drive for a very long time and I am grateful to the Trunzo's and OOTP for their efforts. I personally think/hope that the passion the Trunzo's have will drive them on to the next version, and by that time the word will have hopefully gotten out, that at least in this game, Boxing is still all was to all of us who stayed glued to the TV on Saturday afternoons watching our heros, who knew the names of all the Champions, who shadow boxed in distorted 12 year old tributes to Roberto Duran and Ali.......The most intriguing sport in the World. |

Which is why the word needs to get out to gamers and boxing fans alike. I had thought about going onto other boxing forums and emailing the links on official boxer websites in an effort to spread the word but feel I may be preaching to the converted. It is worth a try though I think. |

Nice to be back, I disagree with me! I do I paid for the game I love it! But how do you attract Fans? Not mega-boxing fans who Go learn the history of boxing, and can have a conversation about Peter Jackson and Sam Langford, But People who just know Tyson, Roy Jones, Oscar, Fernado, And guys along those lines? You have to make it appealing. Now im not telling them to drop there price but what im saying is if you want to get boxing fans who arn't mega-fans A. Make the game more appealing to them, How? A friend told me can you controll the fighter I said in a way you are the trainer, he sorda grind and then he said can like type commands in? Like can i yell at him to do somethin doing the round, and all my Co-workers was like yeah like if he wasn't fighting inside could i push a button that made me like yell like, " Go inside now before you lose the fight"? Or can I motivate them?
So I came up with this idea how about giving buttons you can push to scream out fight inside, fight outside cover up, The fighter dont have to listen but it will hear it! and if a fighter is losing 3 straight rounds how about something i can say that can motivate them? Like a list of options, Option A. He was about to get knocked-out when you was on the inside. B. he is Tired go for the kill C. Your losing the damn fight. And those were the things they wanted, (Not to mention the fact the want the role-play option) I hope the sales are good and I hope everything is ok but if its not they have to do something that will make it appeal to those regular boxing fans. Mark Im loving your site man! Im Remaking mines as I speak, Just collecting names like Marvin hart doing research. Been busy with Work and this baby, but everything cooled down so im back on track lol! |

Oh...ok. I misunderstood your post. I guess you were saying what your friends and people you have talked to say about the game and not necessarily how you feel about it. You make a good point that this game, as it is, appeals more to what you call boxing "mega-fans"...people who know more about the history and intricasies (sp?) of the sport. But I do believe that many casual boxing fans and even some non-fans will enjoy the game alot if they just get it in their hands and give it a chance. TBCB is the kind of game that will turn a non-fan into a fan...kind of like how Championship Manager has turned so many people who previously knew nothing about European football (soccer) into fans of the sport simply because the computer game is so good. I've seen so many examples just on this forum of guys who have gotten sucked in and wanting to know more about the history of boxing just because of TBCB.

I'm not really a boxing fan by any stretch of the imagination. I just LOVE stats games and historical "what if" type stuff. I love old baseball games where I can match up different teams from different eras, and being able to match up, say, Rocky Marciano against... Oh I don't know, Chris Eubank, is what sold me on TB.
