Groups & Universes--Confusion!!!

Last week I created a group called “1920’s & Before.” I ran it for several days and it seemed to work fine. I created it by changing not copying men to “1920’s & Before.” This weekend I spent about 10 hours creating additional groups; 1930’s & 40’s, 1950’s & 60’s and 1970’s & 80’s. When I went to run my 1st tournament, the only groups I had were men and woman. There was no history for any fighter in the game. As an example, John L. Sullivan who had 13 fights shows no bouts. I guess I really don’t understand groups & universes. Could somebody explain my mistake? Should I have copied each fighter and not changed them by going into each fighter’s group classification?

When you define groups, and simulate bouts, and suddenly all groups are gone and also all fight history records, then something must be messed up in your database. Never heard about this before.

Austin;
Did you change databases for any reason? You may not be looking at the database where you created your groups. That would be the first thing to check. Good luck!

Database

After my screwup, thebadguy had me go back a fix my database. So that should not be a problem. So how do I proceed?

This is what I'm trying now.
1. Click on a fighter.
2. Click copy, copy record, click ok
3. Change Group from Men to one of my new catagories.
4. Click Save.
This gives me 2 copies of the same fighter, one in my new catagory and one in the orgininal group called men. Is this the right approach? Is there a quicker way of doing it, copying a large group of boxers at one time?

No, there is not a quicker way. This is the way we all must do it.

Ah, but the rewards of a good day's work are priceless.

If I were you Austin, I wouldn't even bother with that "copy" button, it can create even more confusion. I just simply pull that group menu down and put them where you want to, one at a time. You can always move them back to the original group. I dont know, I like things organized, so I really dislike having two copies of every fighter on my list. Just a thought. And when you DO create a universe (a new database), give it a generic name. Example: You dont want to name your universe "1920's and before" because eventually you will be moving past the 1920's and you would have to create an entirely different universe for the 30's. Just add and remove fighters from ONE universe as you see fit. Then once your new database\universe is created, THEN start creating groups within that database.

Just create a new group, for example "King's".
Go to a fighter which you want to assign to that group.
Select the group in the pull-down and click on Save.

There is no need to make a copy of the fighter.
