Jim...very nice article about Joe Mesi...very perceptive too.

I'd say your assessment is right on the money and I agree...he is a nice asset to boxing.

I loved the article and I felt you hit the nail squarely on the head. He will break a lot of hearts.

I have found the most impressive thing about him is how he has conducted himself in the interviews that occured right after the last two fights. His honest appraisals of what happened, and what he did wrong is a breath of fresh air, not just in the boxing world, but in the sports world. It is very rare to hear anything but excuses from an athelete who does not perform as well as he should have, or would have liked to. Joe Mesi speaks honestly about his shortcomings. An attitude like that shows a willingness to learn and expand his abilities.

But you are right. It won't be enough. Damn. It would have been a pleasant change to see a 'nice guy' finish first.

With such a watered down Heavywt. scene, It wouldn't be out of the realm for him to capture an alphabet belt. Not that it means much.
