Thumbs down Does this concern anyone else?

"It was the second knockout loss in the last four fights for Klitschko, who won the 1996 Olympic gold medal and was once thought of as the better of the two boxing brothers.

"Klitschko was as much as a 9-1 favorite against Brewster, who hadn't fought in more than a year. But, aided by a bet by promoter Don King on Brewster, the odds had shortened considerably by fight time. "

That's a quote for the AP story by Dahlberg on the WBO heavyweight championship fiasco. Is anyone else concerned that a promoter is openly betting on a fight? Can you say "rigged?"

Fixed?

I doubt it. With the power punches that Klitschko was hitting Brewster with, it looked to be on the level. Klitschko was never relaxed during the entire fight. His defense leaves a great deal to be desired.

Hmmmm, the ref seemed to really be trying to let Vlad fight on, but I'll have to watch it again, look closely....if this is the case Vlad should be nominated for an oscar..

I doubt it was rigged. Wlad isn't an idiot. He needed this win to regain his reputation in the ring and start earning some big bucks again. Unless Don Kind was going to give Wlad a TON of money (more maney that Wlad could hope to make), it's doubtful that Wlad would have took a dive.

Although, I think it's bs that Don King is allowed to be on fights. That'd be like a baseball manager betting on baseball games.....

I don't know what King would get by getting Brewster the win. I think that Klitschsko would be the more marketable fighter for the long run for sure.

I think I was being facetious about the rigged part, but King betting does smack of Pete Rose. I realize boxing's always going to be looked at as a shady deal, but I would think high profile people would want to avoid even a hint of impropriety. Maybe the national boxing commission they're working on will address the issue eventually ...

Man o' Man do I hope they get somewhere with the national boxing commission. Can you imagine a world where all boxers are properly monitored and ranked, fighter pension plans, scavengers like the controlling groups of the alphabet divisions put out of business, training and rating of judges and referees and some nice TV coverage?
Ah well, back to my universe.
