Mystery Man

Ok, guys. I'm drawing a complete blank here. Who the heck is this guy about to be destroyed by Joe Louis? He looks familiar. Not Pastor or Paycheck, not Levinsky or Godoy, not Baer or Brown.

Anybody?

I've seen the pic before many years ago and my first reaction was good 'ol Max, but that could very well be wrong.

It looks like Cesar Brion to me.

I don't think it's Brion, as he did not fight Louis until 1950, and this Louis still seems fairly young. I'm guessing this is a pre-fight pic taken prior to Louis going into the army. Louis fought a lot of exhibitions after 1944, so it could be from one of them. Really hard to tell. There's nothing in the photo to date it. Only chance is that someone has a magazine with a caption to fit the picture.

Ten pounds of rancid bacon fat to the lucky guy who solves this mystery!

Possibly Nathan Mann? Haircut seems similar to this picture of him, eyebrows, nose, and jawline are in the right ballpark, so's the physique, and both guys have dark hair on their upper forearms but not a lot of body hair otherwise.

Here's another pic of Nathan Mann. Not very good, but the best I've found so far. Is Mann indeed the mystery man?

The mystery she is solved!

That 10 pounds of rancid bacon fat has been poured into a kraft envelope and dumped in a mail box, well on it's way to our lucky winner:

JEFFR!

Yes, indeedy, folks! The mystery man is Nathan Mann of New Haven, Connecticuttttt (my hand slipped). I just found the identical photo on the net and it clearly ID's our subject as Nathan Mann.

Thanks for all your help.
