Looked like Mitchell just never recovered from that first shot he took. Never had his legs back under him.
I just can't figure out why Mitchell chose to stand in front of Tszyu from the opening bell. The first half of the first fight should have taught Sharmba how effective lateral movement is against Tszyu . . . and the second half should have taught him how dangerous it is to slow down. Anyway, Tszyu proved again that even with the injuries & layoffs he's the force to be reckoned with in the division. |

Well done to Kostya Tszyu, great effort. Mitchell came to fight, but as has been previously said, he didn't recover from the first big shot.
Shane.

Great performance by Tszu, though. Nearly two years out of the ring and he looked like it didn't effect him at all. Maybe even did him some good as he said after the fight. Any consensus on who Tszu should fight next? Last edited by sabotai : 11-07-2004 at 05:46 AM. |

Its like what Hatton said after the fight (he was guest on our boxing show), Mitchell should have either got in close, or got out of range. Hatton commented that Sharmba just stood in medium range, which is exactly what Tszyu thrives on. I agree with Ricky on this. Also Mitchell didn't move as much as we expected. His speed and movement was his main chance of winning but there was a big lack of both to be fair. Take nothing away from Tszyu though, what a great performance, better than ever. That right hand is devastating. I just hope Kostya will agree to fight Hatton and vice versa. That would, in my opinion, be a fight of the year contender in 2005.

Hi Guys,
Tszu's left hook looked pretty good as well. He rocked Mitchell at least twice with it. Thats the shoulder he had operated on and kept him out of the ring. He may have added a new weapon to his arsenal.
