Hopless boxers

Was just randomly punching numbers into Boxrec.com to pull up fighters and it occured to me... A lot of people on here discuss the legends. But what about the WORST boxers of all time? Anyone have any favourite, bad boxers?

I just picked up (from my local library) the Ultimate Encyclopedia of Boxing. Interesting book. Seems to have a list of every title fight in every division since the mid 70's. (My scanner is hosed, so I'm using my digital camera to "scan" the pages.) It of course lists all the legends, but I think it's about time the bottom of the barrel got their rightful props Those guys who HAD to be in for the love of the sport, because they didn't have any real ability, or a hope in hell.

I highly recommend punching random numbers into BoxRec. It's quite enlightening.

I've also done that on occasion. Amazing to see how some of these fighters go on for years and years with the records they compile. I guess it's like you said, either they love the sport, or have no other choice. Makes me think of guys like Bruce Strauss, who fought anywhere, anytime, didn't train, just duked it out and let the chips fall where they may. His theory on training was humorous: when you train, you're in better condition, you can go more rounds... and endure more punishment. At least he's honest

I'm always big on the underdog. The people at the top, you never know if they're there for love or money. The guys at the bottom, you know why they're there.

I like the one who try and fight but still lose, but i despise the professional dive takers who fight in some of the states with unreputable state commisions.

Anyone who takes a dive is a scumbag. (Do NOT get me started on sport fixing. I'm a fan of one of the most corrupt sports on Earth.) No, I mean the guy who pours his heart into it and gives everything he has... And still loses, albeit valiantly.

I only just noticed my amusing typo in the thread subject
