Auto Scheduler
Okay Guys,
I know that I must be the village idiot, but just how do you use the auto scheduler. I can't make any sense of what happens most of the time. Also, I seem to remember someone mentioning using a dot or dash or some other thing in one of the areas for another kind of result, but I don't recall why! Sorry to be such a pest. Thanks. JP |

Well, I've been playing this game since it was released, and I still have to be careful when using the auto-scheduler. It's a powerful tool, but not the most intuitive or user-friendly part of the game.
I'm sure someone else here can give you a better step-by-step rundown on its use than I can. I'm rather tired now, but I'll try. To generate a series of fights, start by clicking the word "Scheduler" on the main TBCB screen. On the next screen, click "Auto Scheduler" on the lower left. That brings you to the "Create Fight - General Settings" screen. I click "schedule each fighter only one time." I click "update fighter records" if I want the automatically generated fights to count. In "repeats for each bout" you can put 0 or however many times you want the same two guys in a particular matchup to fight. "max number of bouts to schedule" is up to you, but of course if you have 100 HWs and want all of them to fight once, you should schedule only 50 bouts total... "year of event" - I've never quite understood how that's used, especially when you can also choose a date once you reach the "Fight Options" screen... "max rating difference" - self-explanatory, actually. You might want only fighters within 3 rating levels of each other to fight each other, for example. So, you type "3". "gender" - self explanatory. You probably want Laila Ali fighting another woman and not Vitali Klitschko. "combine divisions" - I use "combine only identical" to keep FWs from fighting HWs. "year of random fight date" - not sure why this matters. Then go to the upper part of the screen and click "Red Corner." If you want the computer to select fighters based on your filters, you click "Let the scheduler select fighters." Choose your "Era" (active or retired fighters). Choose the division you want to schedule fighters from. At the bottom right of the Red Corner screen you can select other criteria for the fighters. Nationality (or leave that blank if you don't care), minimum and maximum ratings, minimum and maximum rank, style, lefties only, etc. Once you have the criteria for the Red Corner fighters set, go to the top of the screen and click "Blue Corner." Then click "get settings." This brings all the stuf you selected for the Red Corner over to the Blue corner. Then go to the top of the screen and click "Fight Options". On the Fight Options screen you can configure a variety of...fight options. Rule set, number of rounds, whether or not you want to control a particular corner, venue, fight date (say you want to have all the 50 scheduled HW fights take place on June 6, 2004 at Wembley Stadium), etc. You can also pick your announcer etc, or set those guys to "random" and the game will pick announcers and referees. THen click "schedule" at the lower right part of the screen, and the game will generate a series of matchups based on your filtering criteria. On the scheduled bouts screen you'll see the fights lined up. You'll notice a column called "repeats." If you click on the repeats field for each bout, you'll have the option of inputting certain numbers to make the bout interactive or not. I hope this helps. Some of what I've said here may be inaccurate, or my understanding of some elements of the autoscheduler may be flawed, so please, guys, correct any misinformation I've written here. Antonin,
Thanks for the help. I think where I'm confused is min & max - Rate & Rank. I can't get a handle on what to do with these entries. I do know the "Year of Event" answer. It narrows fighters by the years in their carrer span. So if a guy fought from 1870 to 1899 and you put 1900 in the "Year of Event" spot, the 1800's guy won't be in the mix at all, but any guy whose carrer started or included 1900 would. It's the "Random Date" in a year that I can't figure out WHY we'd use it! JP |

Min and Max rating-gives a range for what rating(1-15) that the fighters will have. Example of this is if you want all the heavys rated from 12 on up to fight each other, you would plug in 12 in the min and 15 in the max or if you only wanted "10" rated fighters to fight each other, you would plug in 10 and 10.
Min and Max ranking-if the fighters have records, they have rankings so if you only want fighters ranked from 11-20 to fight each other, you would plug in 11 and 20. Random year is for the fighters "fight history". The fight(s) will show up with that year in their history. The problem I had with this is that the fights have a random day and month and won't show up in proper order. Last edited by Mudster : 12-20-2004 at 01:49 AM. |
