TBCB Random Fighter Generator v3.1 released
v3.1 (22 December 2004)
Version numbers were out of sync between the Readme file and the program. The previous version to the program was retroactively changed from 2.4 to 3.0 to sync them. There is now a very high chance that the two Control Factor ratings will be within 3 of each other, but there is still a small chance they will be more than 3 apart (credit to Odrog from the official TBCB message boards for that change). A warning has been added that the program must be exited through the menu and not through the X button in Windows, or else the generated report will be blank (credit to JohnnyBench of the official TBCB message boards for that change). Hey all! With all the recent talk about my TBCB RFG, I decided to update it again. The changes are small, but still. Well, except for the version number thing. The program and internal code was displaying 2.4, but the readme was 3.0. I must have had one too many Mountain Dews that night... I can't believe no one noticed it. Anyway, as I mentioned in the other thread, my programming partner, Chris Storer, has gone to Texas for basic training in the Air Force. So, I'm by myself here, and with my commitments to other websites, I don't think my program will be getting too many more updates as long as TBCB doesn't have a sequel. Still, it was the sudden influx of support from all of you that lit a fire under my butt and made me make THIS update, so who knows? If you all support me as well as you have been, more updates will probably follow. I know, it's stupid of me to ask you to Stroke My Ego for updates. But hey, at least the program is free. ![]() Seriously though, thanks for the support, all. EDIT: I forgot to actually attach the program. Whoops.

question... Being that TBCB exported files are in xml format, why don't you randomly generate fighters to an xml doc that conforms to TBCB? Then we can just import the boxers.
I think you've got the hard work done already. You'll definately have to add more input options and change the text formatting to an xml tree structure, but that's about it. Your utility is a great concept, but not all that useful atm. I don't know how useful i'd be, but I may be of some help. -BT |

Well, as I said BT, right now my priorities are elsewhere. Once I get a few projects taken care of (which should be around Christmas -- and like the last few years, this will be a working Christmas for me), I can concentrate on my "side projects." I'm actually not entirely sure the coding for XML documents. I'm sure it's easy to learn, but as I said, I just don't have the time at the moment.
Trust me, I'll update everyone as it comes. I should be darn free this weekend, and then I'll get somewhere.

Hrm, I noticed that you can export to xml, but not import. That doesn't make sense as I doubt may people here know how to write xsl stylesheets.
I was gonna try and simplify the fighter's xml doc and see if it imported ok, as there's only a few fields that need to be generated at all, but there's no xml import feature. ![]() |
