Golota vs Brewster

According to fightnews.com, Andrew Golota has inked a deal to fight WBO champion Lamon Brewster; possibly in March. I think this is probably his best shot at a belt, since Brewster, in my opinion, is the least of the major title-holders. Think the judges did a number on Andrew in his fights with Byrd and Ruiz. Don't think this one will be left in their hands. Golota TKO 8.

I can't picture Golata screwing this one up. How many title shots has he had now?

This is his fourth shot at a world title. He has already fought for the WBC, IBF, and WBA belts, respectively. Maybe the WBO strap won't elude him as the others did.

Just a quick sidenote. I was very impressed with Golota's performances against Byrd and Ruiz. Should he defeat Brewster, a unification bout between Andrew and Vitali would be very interesting. Aside from Hasim Rahman, I think that Golota may be the biggest challenge out there for the WBC champ.

Off topic here, did you notice that Tarver entered the ring against Johnson with one of his guys carrying The Ring Magazine belt? Too bad they didn't play that up more. That makes Johnson the Ring's light heavyweight champion don't it?

Not to sound like a psychologist, but I think Golota is one of those people who suffers from the “Fear of Success.” Golota has/had so many tools… but he just never found a way to put it together when it really counted. Wasted potential is the phrase that comes to mind. Mentally, Vitali probably presents too big a problem for Golota. Watching him fight is like watching someone who always seems capable of doing something big… but somehow never seems to deliver the goods.

Frustrating to say the least.

His last to fights he was giving it his all so, I think thats all behind him, I had him beating Ruiz but losing 115-113 to Byrd.

I can't watch Golota fight anymore. The man did posess the tools to be a champ. He's just too messed up in the head to be effective anymore. You can see he's afraid to go to the body for fear of fouling. Half of his offensive arsenal is taken away, because of his fear of going to the body. He should retire...
