Need Help Naming Title
Hey Guys,
I am starting a fictional Universe that consists of only Fictional guys from the United States. The Universe will begin in 1900 and move through history with an ageing formula that will move fighters through their careers and continue to bring new (Fictional Fighters) in. My goal is for this to be a Regional, Smaller organization. Like I said, only U.S. boxers and with no "WORLD" Champion. Only a "United States Championship" as the top prize. I would like to create one more title to have in this small organization to help add to the excitement and give more fighters belts to contend for. I would like this second title to be desired but obviously a stepping stone title or a title with lesser value the the coveted "US Belt." I had thought about having regional titles, but that could lead to a lot of possible "regions" and I don't want there to be too many belts. I just want the One United States Champion and then one other belt of lesser value than the US Belt. Do you guys have any suggestions as to what I could call this belt? I had thought about the "National Title" but that seems to put it on the same level as the US Belt. Any Ideas? Last edited by JohnnyBench : 12-30-2004 at 12:18 AM. |

In my universe, the ruling organisation was conceived and is based in New York City. I decided to have a New York State Championship title, just as recognition of the organisation's place of birth.Maybe you could do something similar.

Great Ideas Guys
Still looking for the "just right" name for our second Title that will be a stepping stone to our United States Championship. Conn Chris: Great Bowling reference! Took me a while but I got it! Javier: Golden Globe is good but that sounds like a step up from our US Belt Bam Bam: I thought about Intercontinental, but again this seems equal to the US Belt. I am looking for a belt that is not as high up as the US Title. I know I'm asking for a lot. Maybe I should do regionals, but I just don't want too many titles. |

That's a thought Chris
I am going to be doing a small write up occasionally called "USBA Boxing News" Maybe I can have a second title that is "sponsored" by the USBA Boxing News. It won't be the same as the United States Championship, but it would be respectable since it carries the name of the only boxing news source in our Universe. I like this idea best so far.. HHMMMMMM......Maybe Keep the ideas coming, guys! ![]() |

Not that it matters a whit to anyone, but here's how my belts are set up:
I have a world title holder and eight minor belts. The minor belts are traded in every match that the holder has with an opponent that meets the regional or other qualifications of the title. Every July, all action is suspended and the eight current minor title holders in each division compete in a tournament. The tournament winner gets a title shot in August. For the balance of the year, title shots are awarded through a means similar to what Cubedrum details on his site. The belts are as follows: World Champion: WBC - World Boxing Congress Minor belts (and qualifications) NABF - North American Boxing Federation (US, Canada, Mexico & Carabean) EBF - European Boxing Federation (European Countries) ACBA - African Continental Boxing Alliance (Africa and the Middle East) OABF - Oceanic and Asian Boxing Federation (Asia, Middle East & Oceana) SABF - South American Boxing Federation (South & Central America) CPS - Commonwealth Pugilistic Society (UK & Current or former Brittish Colonial Nations) NWBA - New World Boxing Alliance (Non CPS Nations) IPFA - International Prize Fighting Association (no geographic qualifications) At times, a fighter will hold two minor belts, if that is the case when July rolls around, I add the most recent holder of the second belt currently held by another boxer to get the eight men needed for the tourney. This does not occur all that often though. A world title holder automaticaly vacates any minor belts held when he wins the world title.

How about the Nat Fleischer Memorial Belt? Fleischer was one of the fathers of modern boxing in your country. You could have a New York based foundation, funded by the Fleischer Trust, award a belt to the winner of a tournament. That fighter could either defend it in the usual manner of champions, or defend it against the winner of a yearly or semi-annual tourney.
I'm thinking of doing something similar with a Frank Allnutt Memorial Belt. Allnutt was the Ring's chief Canadian correspondent for many years, and we often wrote back and forth. A really nice guy. Buddy |
