Hall of fame Class of 2005

What do you guys think of this years group?

I think it sucks that non champions like Lloyd Marshall and Newsboy Brown continue to be ignored. Just because a guy didn't win a title, doesn't mean he wasn't great!

I thought inducting Barry Mcguigan was questionable, but I've seen worse.

I remember they inducted Ingemar Johanson a couple years ago, even though he accomplished very little other than beating Floyd Patterson for the title. Why don't they induct George Godfrey? He wan't champion but he was better than Johanson.

I think McGuigan was judged more collectively, as opposed to any defining fights or moments. He's a legend in Ireland, was groomed from his amateur days to become a champion, and did just that.

After he retired he did alot of good things for boxing too.

but losing to Steve Cruz in the states probably hurt his international appeal, and is probably the reason you think he shouldnt be in the HOF

How did Marcil Thil get in? His best attribute seems to be the ability to win title fights on fouls.

I'm Going To The Hall Tomorrow......i Only Live 30 Minutes Away. I Would Agree That Holman Williams Should Be Inducted.

Thil needed the benefit of French refs to win those fights, to boot. If he's in Dave Shade, Rene Devos, Frank Klaus, Leo Houck, Eddie McGoorty, Bob Moha and Jofre's choice Holman Williams get in the door first.
