Run up to TBCB 2 vs run up to TBCB 1--why the silence?

Yes, I know, we've heard multiple times "we'll have news when we have news". But contrast the lack of information this time around vs the updates we got as TBCB 1 was in progress.

This doesn't, at least to me, seem to be a great way to treat your customers. Some detail, guys, please--or at least how about explaining the lack of information this time vs the updates we got on the runup to TBCB 1.

Here we go again ... They're treating the customers bad ... this is an old tired song.

I may be labled a yutz for saying this, but I am more than happy with the version we have now. That said however, a semi firm target date would probably help folks that are eagerly anticipating the next release.

For those who weren't with us for the first release. They did give a little bit more info, but they really had more info to give since they were building the game from ground up.

They do not give any kind of dates at all. Jim got burnt doing that long ago. They take their time releasing the game and as a result we get one of the most bug free text sim games upon initial release. Is it completely bug free? No but the first release had no show stoppers. OOTP always has some, as well as every other text sim out there.

TPB was a close second to this. The second version of this game isn't going to be a completely different game. It will enhance the excellent version of this game that we already have. Like Chris said I am more than happy with this version also.

If you are waiting for the second game to come out to help cure your lack of imagination then you are waiting in vain. TBCB2 will require the same imagination you have now. If you are so unhappy with the current version that you can't be entertained with it, you won't be happy with the second version (but buy it anyway!!!).

As for news, Andreas is very good at releasing news when he has it to give. If he had anything of value it would be released. But he isn't going to come on and say I spent 35 hours coding this week.

Sorry to be short but it gets irritating to see the constant stream of whining coming from people.

Hey--who was whining? I just asked a question. It's a reasonable one--and I didn't say it was "treating the customers badly"--overall OOTPDEV does a good job in relating.

I was just noting that there is a marked difference in the interaction this time around, and I think it's entirely reasonable to ASK if we can either have some more info, or a reason why they're being more closed-mouthed this time.

Last I saw you're not a mod here. I have as much right, as does anyone else, to ask a question. It bugs you? Then don't act like you own the boards, c**t.

Why don't you edit your last sentence before a mod beats you to it

Caligula
That was good advice that Bam Bam gave you, so it might be wise to edit your posting.

Speaking up when you feel your in the right is one thing but you have gone a little over the top.

I don't think Andreas and company should be upset if a few folk here express an interest in the future of the game. That kind of interest can translate into sales. If someone simply asks for news, just let it fly. If Andreas has news he will reply.

Caligula, calm down and do the right thing. Maybe no one had reason to diss you before that last unfortunate post, but we do now.

Edit the post, we'll all put it behind us. Otherwise anything you post in the future will be judged accordingly

Caligula, I understand your fustration and you have a valid point but please, shouting obscenities at others on the boards is not cool. mh2365 is one of the truly good guys on these boards.

At the same time, mh2365, you must learn to cut down on the sarcasm and critisism of other peoples posts. Caligula was just stating his opinion, which in this country is perfectly legal last time I checked. It just might rub people the wrong way. Take a note of that for the future.

Now lets all make up and go back to being one big happy family again.

Well, the Internet absolutely belongs to the United States.

Didn't you know Al Gore invented it?

Asking for news doesn't bother me. That is what bothered me. If he had left that sentence out the post would have been acceptable but implying that the are treating their customers bad is stupid.

But since his last comment about Al Gore was funny I'll let it go.

The 'lack of info' is not that much of a problem is it really? You've been told that they are still working on it so what exactly is your problem? Do you want them to promise features that may not even make it to the final game? Or do you need to be told once a week that they are still working on it? Fact is, the current game is good enough to keep us occupied for a good while yet and having seen the amazing job they did with TBCB I think we can safely say that we won't be disappointed with the second TB. The wait is hard because we are all impatient but put things into perspective. This aint a dig at anyone I just think that this sort of subject crops up a lot.
