A bit confused about the conditioning and proficiency stats...

Hey, everyone. I've been looking into making some fictional fighters for my HBF Universe. I've already made one named Terone Haynes, who is (in my universe) Elmer Ray's cousin.

I'm just a little bit unsure about the conditioning and proficiency stats.

Why is it that for the good fighters, the conditioning value is low and for the bad fighters, it is high? Is this stat the opposite of the others, ie. lower value is better than a higher value?

A lot of fighters have a proficiency of 10, even guys rated 1 or 2. What does this stat represent?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Regards,

k_c

The proficency stat represent sthe number of rounds on average a fighter is used to completing. The vast majority of fighters are set to ten on this.

The conditioning stat is used to represent both physical and mental problems a fighter might have coming into the fight.

For example conditioning rating 5 represents a fighter who is known for breaking training for wine women and song. Sometime she will be good and have no bad effect on his bout other times he may have broken training badly
Good examples would be - Harry Greb or Mike Tyson

Another example is conditioning rating 9 this represents inner mental demons in a fighter which despite no physical problems seem to beset him. You never know quite what fighter is going to turn up.
Excelelnt examples would be Floyd Patterson and Jack Sharkey.

check the back of your manual and you will find each of the conditioning ratings fully explained, they are a great way of incorporating the intangible of the fighters personality into the game.

hope that helps.

Thanks for the help, Dean. I have a problem with my manual where when I try to open it, I get the message "Adobe Download Manager: The download cannot continue. Error parsing voucher." Anyone know what that means?

Thanks for the info on those ratings. Much appreciated.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I'm laughing my ass off! Cheena you just made my day. You actually made up a fighter named Terone Haynes who just so happens to be Elmer Ray's cousin?
That's a good Idea, maybe I should make up a guy called Sonny Boy Jeremiah who happens to be the illegitmate son of Denver Ed Martin's sister's
mother in-law's neighbor.

If that's what pops your cork, go right ahead.

Hmm. Seems to me that you think the idea is a bit silly, judging by your "illegitimate son/mother-in-law's neighbour" comment. I can't really see what's silly about two cousins both being boxers. Aren't there two guys in the NBA who are cousins? But that's cool, I'm not the type to take offense easily.

Have you been following my Heavyweight Boxing Federation universe thread over in Inside the Ropes? If you had been, you would already be aware of Terone Haynes being introduced into the universe. He is the only fictional fighter I've created, although I've used a number of the ones that were available on cornerwork.

I don't know why, but Mr Ray fascinates me. He looks like quite a bad dude in his photos, and the fact that his nickname was VIOLENT indicates that he was a pretty hardcore boxer. He came from Hastings, Florida, which according to information I've found on the net, has a population of 520, and, to be blunt, looks like a hole.

In my universe, I'm trying to go beyond simply describing the fights. I want to make the fighters come alive, give them personality. The universe starts out in 2002 and features retired fighters from all eras plus a handful of fictional fighters. In the universe, I've made Elmer Ray into a hot-headed, disrespectful, smart-assed, hip-hop loving 16 year-old who isn't scared of anybody. He comes from a pretty large extended family, all of whom live in the community of Hastings, Florida. Amongst them is his 23 year-old cousin, Terone Haynes. Haynes is a giant, standing 6'6" and weighing close to 260 pounds. He is a 10 rated fighter, and will most likely wreak havoc upon the lower ranked fighters of the HBF.
