Barrett/Beck

Not sure if Barrett is in the best shape of his life, but it has been a pretty good fight thus far.

Barrett TKO9

Beck isn't bad, but this fight will be about the biggest stage he will ever be on. Beck isn't much of a defensive fighter, but he has a good punch. His future opp will go after his average at best beard....much like they did John Tate after his KO loss to Mike Weaver.

Barrett wasn't much of a good sport after the fight...compairing himself to a god. I'm hoping whoever he fights for the title kicks his butt.

Neither fighter impressed me much. They both got hit way too much. Not often I say this, Byrd would destroy Barrett.

I hate when athletes do the whole God thing. I wished he would just shut up and answer the questions. If I'd been in the ring I would of asked him what God's plan was when he was getting knocked down 6 times against Wlad.

It all depends which Barrett comes to fight. The Barrett that exposed Mesi I think has just as much of chance as any at getting a title. The Barrett that sleeps thru bouts and makes more mistakes than he needs to, not so good. Thats simply just HOW bad the HW div is.

Did anyone notice in the Barrett Beck fight that then ten second warning sounded a minute early. At 1:10 left in the round, the warning sounded, both fighters started to hit like the round was almost over. Barrett hurt Beck, but in stead of the round ending, Beck had to hang on for 60 more seconds. I really believe that is what caused Beck to go down.

I noticed that too, the announcers even started talking like there was 10 seconds left.

That's the difference between HBO and Showtime. If that kind of oddity had happend on Lampley's watch, he would have jumped all over it. But the showtime boys are so scared of Don King, I don't think they wanted any part of any controvery. I might be off base here, but I have my doubts. It's to bad, I really think that Beck got knocked out because of the ringside error.

Sshhh you don't want to imply HBO has anything better than Showtime, erick might jump all over you. . Showtime's guys are totally lame, and unknowledgeable about boxing. They seem to only know what King tells them to know.

Now wait, your telling me that the reason beck lost because he got hit when this Bell ranged at a false time and it made barret throw his 10 second flurry?
And? And? At my boxing jim, the trainers always say do not pay any attention to the bell or anything stay focus and don't stop until the ref says time! It was a fight, and he got hit, and he went down.

Now if your point is Hbo would have been all over it I will have to agree on you, Hbo has the more entertaining crew of the two.

This whole Don King conspiracy must be put to rest! If you guys do not know Owen Beck is Carl King (don brother) Son in Law! So thats why he got all the high rankings and made 60% of the purse, Oh and yeah this fight is for the WBc #2 and IBF # 1, Beck beat some ****ing monsters just ask Troy Weida, get it if anything the conspiracy should be how the hell did don king get this boy this far without beating any type of contender.

Barret is CO-PROMOTED BY KING! Something King do not like OWEN IS PROMOTED by King, something King does like, Makes no since to me that king would want beck to lose especially since in 2 fights his options are up on beck. http://www.boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=020088
Look and see who is manager is.

I have to agree I do Like the crazy ass HBO crew they might not be as detailed as Showtime but they do keep it loose.

Good catch I did not even notice it.

Ain't no way a guy who's nickname is "what the heck", is ever gonna be champion. Can you imagine?

"The winner by Knockout, and NEW undisputed heavyweight champion of the WOOOORRRRLLLD! OWEN " THE THE HECK" BECK!"

Doesn't exactly have a nice ring to it.

Monte Barrett is one of the great trial horses of our time. If you're good, you'll get past him, if you're not, he'll take you down. Every division needs a few Barretts.

Erik,
You missed my point. It wasn't that Barrett went hard at 1:10 and caught Beck, it was the Beck heard the 10 second bell, gave all he had and exhausted himself with a minute left in the round. He didn't have that much gas in the tank to begin with, but to expend his all his energy with 1:00 left was all she wrote.

I think he would have lost anyway, but I hate to see something like that happen.
