An offer to everyone on this forum (almost everyone)

As some of you may know, Boxing Torrents has put a cap on its number of users. The "Sign Up" function doesn't even work anymore. However, you can get in if someone who has the status of "Power User" recommends you to sMoKeR (the SysOp). I would be more than happy to recommend all but one person on this board. It's the least I can do to repay our little community for all the great conversation, all the knowledge that has been passed around, and for most of you just being "goodfellas".

If anyone wants an account and wants to start downloading just about any fight they want... PM me through this forum and let me know. Ill see what I can do... but I dont see any reason why you wouldn't get in. I am proud to have the "power user" status, and I may as well put it to use.

Let me know...

I'd be very interested. I'd love to see international fights, and I even have a few fights on my hard drive to contribute

Its all free CHRIS CONN!!! The only agreement that you need to make is this: Maintain a good share ratio... let people download from you as much as you download from them. If I get you in and you become a "leecher"... its gonna make ME look bad.

If you guys dont know much about torrents, I would suggest you get on Google and do some reading. Torrent networks are MUCH better than any P2P sharing program (Ares, Kazaa,etc.). A good place to start would be at www.sourceforge.net , and download the Win32 version of Azureus, read the directions and go from there.

Like I said... if anyone is interested in having unlimited access to boxing matches (new and old), then please private message me about it, rather than ask me out here in the forum. The site is great! Fights on HBO, Showtime and fights from around the world are usually up and ready within a few hours after the broadcast... so dont read any spoilers!!!!

I appreciate the offer BadGuy, but you know what? I already had an account set up. I think I signed way back when someone first mentioned it here, but I never used it because I didn't know what BitTorrent was. I just DL'd BitTornado tonight and tried a fight or two and theyworked out well. I do have one question though...I noticed a few of the fights I tried had DL times of around 6-8 hours. Is that normal for most of them?

Sprechen Sie Deutsches schlechter mann?

I know tiny bits of German from my grandparents, they used it in the house but only for certain occasions. Such as when I was in trouble.

sclechter = rotten, bad, (I think ugly, but don't quote me on that)

mann = well, you should be able to get this one.

When a fight only has a couple of seeds, then yeah, that's pretty normal. But for fights that have a dozen or more, it usually takes a short time depending on file size and your connection. Most of the more anticipated fights will have a lot of seeders for at least a week, probably more. I have broadband and can download pretty fast as long as a lot of people are seeding the fight.

As long as you have a good share ratio... there aren't any wait times, unless no one is seeding it of course. Boxing Torrents offers alot of "benefits" for people who share the files they download. Wait times are only for people who have a low enough share ratio to warrant "consequences", but not low enough to be banned. They may apply to new users as well... Im not sure on that one.

A word of warning: The guys who run Boxing Torrents dont **** around... if you dont share, you will get yourself banned in a hurry. Maybe I already gave this bit of advice, but I cant stress it enough.

Just one more thing: I'm still a bit in the dark with the "leeching" and "seeding" stuff, but how can I make sure that the files I DL are also being shared? I only completed two so far. Just want to make sure I'm doing the right thing there.

Just keep your client open (Azureus, ABC, Mainline).... whichever one you use, and make sure that your downloaded files are under the "seeding category". You should be able to see whether or not your files are being downloaded. Dont stop sharing the file until your ratio for that file is at least 1.000 or better.
