4 Active HW's

There are 4 heavyweights currently in the top 50 that are not rated in tbcb. There were 5, but I found some ratings here for Samuel Peter. Has anyone knowledgeable with active fighers (which I am not), rated any of these guys? I am planning on starting a new universe (about my 30th) using the current HW's as a starting point. Thanks for whatever help you can give me.

Sergei Lyakhovich
Cengiz Koc
Matt Skelton
Alexander Dimitrenko

Here's three of them. Rocco rated Skelton, dunno who rated the other 2.

Cengiz Coc recently got a very debatable decicion over Marcelino Dominguez in Germany. I watched it on British Eurosport and there was no way he should have got the decision. Seems like in Germany you have little chance of getting a decision. In any case Coc did not impress but he would be a useful addition to this game if anyone wanted to create him. I know I should try myself. Could make a million excuses but it's probably due to lack of confidence in getting it right. Suppose once I do start to create fighters there will be no stopping me but now's not the time.

Now's the perfect time. If you have watched Coc fight, all the better. Grab the artiles on the TBCB home page about rating and have a crack at it.

Ronnie

Agree with Chris

Don't worry if you don't get it perfect. If you have seen him fight you know if he is a boxer or puncher....does he like to throw more hooks? Uppercuts? Does he like to be aggressive or counter punch? All these things can be set up in the fighter file.

Besides, as mentioned before, if you get him close enough then others can tweak where they feel necessary -you have already done a lot of the "grunt work" in setting him up and getting him in our data base.

I'd like to have a go at rating fighters myself, but I can't seem to find the article on how to do it, could somebody please point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance,
Ian.

There are two articles at this link:

Then, it is just a matter of tinking with it till you get a feel for things.

Once again I will say that Skelton's rating is wildly inaccurate IMO, no offense to whoever rated him, but a pre-prime 10 for a 38 year old who has beaten no one worth a damn is a little high.

Hey common, he beat Kieth Long and the British mag Boxing Monthly call's him "still a work in progress" They talked about the win over Long as though it were a large stepping stone for Skelton.

I think they may be looking through the same glasses that I view Lawrence Clay-Bey with

I could see an 8 or so with good power but pre-prime 10 for a 38 y/o ???? Okay and Hatton will beat Tszyu

One last thing ... if Skelton is a 10 shouldn't Valuev be about a 18? LOL

On that note I'll quit being so cynical now LOL

I think the end may be around the corner. I have wished that he would fight more frequently in-state, but that may be moot soon. I see him either hanging on for a few years as an opponent or perhaps staying home and beating some New England stiffs for a few more paydays.

I'd vote for the later as I haven't even seen him in person yet.

I thought Skelton was defiinatley a bit too high overall, so I made some minor adjustments, changed him to prime ( Hell, hes 38, cant see that as pre-prime :} ) and hes now a 7 overall and should still be extremely competive.

I spent a few minutes coming up with the rating for Skelton. I didn't do a whole lot of play testing with it. What's great with this game is being able take someone elses work if you want and tweek the ratings around easy enough to what you feel are more accurate.

Here's a file of Skelton I'd done a while back. I'd done a little more play testing. He's an 8 here in this rating.

Good work guys ... I really didn't mean to belittle anyone's work ... I get to drinking Kool-Aid about certain fighters at times also.

O.K. guys. Here's my first attempt at rating a fighter. Thanks for giving me the push I needed. It's current European Heavyweight prospect Cengiz Koc although personally I'm not too impressed with him. Se what you think and feel free to offer any constructive critisism regarding his ratings. Just hope I can manage to upload him as I'm also a bit computer illiterate.

Looks good to me Ronnie, but I personally do not rate fighters so I'll let one of the pros give you their opinion.
