Hopkins vs Taylor

http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/box...dan&id=2019147

I think it's too soon for Taylor but I'll be rooting for him

I think Bad Intentions holds his own in this, but loses by at least a couple rounds.

Hopkins is an iron-horse! Damn.

That fight schedule is nuts (espeically for a 40 year old man) - Tayor, Tarver / Johnson - then ending it with Tito -

Tito will be getting him after Hopkins is pretty spent already (considering those first two fights within the year) -

I think I saw a little somethin during Hopkins last fight, a little age, a little rust, lethargy, I may go with Jermain on this one for the upset

I saw something in Hopkins over these last two weeks, that I've never seen or read from him, Fear! He gave JT A 24hr take it or leave it, after golden boy and JT signed a very good contract (the one that taylor has now) he then tells taylor to take the arginal with the three options or no fight (Something no one would take) I think Hopkins wins by 12rd SD.

Good points meade! Hopkins is really trying to go out in a blaze of glory with good/tough fights!

I'll bet King is telling Tito that every day Hopkins is just getting older so if Tito fights him late this year or early next year, it's all the better for Tito. Time is really on his side in this case - as long as he gets a rematch before Hopkins hangs up the gloves for good.

I though Hopkins' legs look shaky in his last fight. I think Taylor dominates him from the first round to whenever it ends. I think a win in this fight for hopkins is a more impressive accomplishment than his win over tito. Even though I can't stand Taylor, he's a damn good fighter and will be for years to come.

I think Hopkins has shown his age lately and taylor could be the right guy to expose him but hopkins still is very hard to hit and frustrates fighters to the point where they often stray from there gameplan. I hope taylor can pull it out its time for the next generation of middle weight to take control but i woulnt be suprised if hopkins pulls another one out.

Even if Taylor wins his critics will say well Hopkins was over the hill. I see Hopkins pulling out of this fight also. He'll stick with something he knows he can win like Trinidad. No way Tito can come back and win after getting bombed by Hopkins the way he did. I don't know why anyone would think otherwise.

Tarver and Johnson are also-rans. Yeah they beat Jones but what did Jones have left. Other than the Jones win both are journeymen in a weak division. Taylor is an unknown for Hopkins and he has earned the right to pick and choose his fights. It'd be smarter for him to finish his career with that fight. If he fights him first and loses then his only real option is a rematch. If he whips Tito again first then beats Tarver, then fights Taylor, he can retire one way or the other.

That way if he beats Taylor he can say I'm retiring having defeated all comers. If he loses he can say well I'm 41 and it's time to pass the torch. Win-win for him.

I think Hopkins has been slipping for the past several years now. But he's been slipping very slowly. It's just like smoking, it kills you slowly but not instantly like a gunshot wound or something. However, I still think he's got enough left to beat Taylor. But you never know. Young lions have a habit of sneaking up on the grizzled veterans.

Taylor definitely has what it takes to win this fight, but experience and ring savy will be the determining factor, which is why I think Hopkins will pull it out. This may be one of those bouts where you see Hopkins do "just enough" to win rounds. He may not win big, but I think he'll win.

I think Tarver would be a tougher fight for him than Trinidad. Of course, this is all assuming that Hopkins doesn't get old overnight. He keeps himself in good shape year round, so he should have few good ones left in the tank.

Taylor does have a tendancy (sp?) to lose his cool. With all of the tricks Hopkins will undoubtibly pull out, he's going to frustrate Taylor for the entire fight. Which is exactly what Hopkins wants. I predict Hopkins will make Taylor so angry that he will cause Taylor to lose at least a point, maybe 2. Hell, it's Hopkins, he might even bait the young guy into getting himself DQ'ed.
