Samson Dutch Boy-Gym - (info on him)

Here is some info on Samson Dutch Boy-Gym - He is a retired JBW who had a great record of 43-0-0 (36) when he retired - Never won a World Title - Fought soley in Asian but was considered very good! - He never won a major belt but defended the WBF Title like 32 times!!

He beat the likes of Rolando Pascua, Genaro Garcia, Alexander Mahmutov,Hugo Rafael Soto, Rey Llagas, Orlando Padillo

I have a trading partner in Japan (and try and watch video on any of the fighters I have within my Universe) - He recently sent me four fights of Samson (should arrive here any day) - But below is a quick over-take of his feel on him (he has seen dozens of Samson fights).

"Samson was more of a boxer than most Thai fighters. You know how most Thai guys come in with pretty fair to good technics but mostly just look for the one big punch? Well Samson was different. If you have seen Chana or Songkram Porpaoin, they fight a lot like Samson did. He had really good boxing skills that he used thru out the fight. He never really went guns a blazzing even if the guy was hurt. A very calm and calculated boxer. I think that may have been a reason he was not a more well known fighter around the world, just because he was not a flashy puncher."

Thanks Meade. I have been fruitlessly looking for a picture of Samson 3K for a while.

Has anyone ever come happened on a picture of Samson 3K? I would think that the RING would have run a photo at some point, but I haven't found one in my meager collection.

CONN CHRIS -

Nope - I have not been able ot come up with a picture on him - I have 4 fights of his on tape (so I have a mental image of what he looks like) but I cannot find an actual picture of him -

I've asked a few guys from Japan and Thailand if they come across one to email me (haven't recieved anything from them to date).

Maybe Meade can comment on that, I never had the pleasure of watching him. I can say that 3K didn't fight a lot of great opponents, he mainly stayed in Thailand and defended the minor belt that he owned. But forty plus outings with no bad nights is still pretty impressive.

As Conn Chris said - Samson 3K didn't fight the best of competition over his 40 + bouts - Though during the middle of his career (during his prime days) he did defeat a number of decently ranked fighters such as Rolando Pascua, Genaro Garcia, Alexander Mahmutov,Hugo Rafael Soto, Rey Llagas --

Is Samson better than Wongjongkam - First Wonjongkam is a Fly Weight (and though that is only a 3 pound weight class difference.....Samson was a bigger sized JBW...and Wonjongkam is not a "big" Fly Wt) -

I'd say Wonjongkam is the better of the two ...On the whole.....Though would Wonjongkam have beat Samson at JBW??? - Hard one to answer -

If the Wonjongkam Vs Arce fight comes off.....that should be a classic (and can tell a lot more about Wonjongkam - Though, I do see Wonjongkam as on his downside slightly.....he hasn't looked as sharp his past few fights as he did earlier in his career).
