Off topic question, my only one.

Right now my money(lack of) limits me to board games, and I am happy with just those, if I NEVER get a computer. I am a hockey fan, and I recall some guys here asking me about Strat-O-Matic hockey. Well, I think it sucks, honestly, and that's very frustrating. Their baseball board game is outstanding and very statistically accurate, but I want to play a GOOD hockey BOARD game, and I don't know where to find one. Obviously I can't ask Strat-O-Matic people if there's a good hockey board game out there, because they'd say THEIR'S is a good one, but they'd be wrong. I have APBA hockey, 1992-93 season, down in Texas, but I don't think that was much better, if I recall. APBA is overrated, but the game is pretty to look at, in my opinion. Where is a GOOD hockey statistical BOARD game?
Title Bout, this is a one-time question to Conn Chris, or whoever mentioned "Strat-O- Matic" Hockey. Since I don't have a computer, and I am interested in a board game only, right now, I hope it is not inappropriate to bring this up here. I am not a secret agent from a competing company; from what I see, "Title Bout" was about the best board game I ever had, and I wish this company the very best, and hope you dominate. I bet I'll find some little Canadian company who knows their hockey.

Actualy, I sort of liked Strat-O-Matic Hockey. I played it as a kid, so maybe it is only good in recollection. I was always hoping that Avalon Hill would put one in their Statis Pro series, but they never did to my knowledge.

Sorry that I can't be of help.

Conn Chris, I would have liked Avalon Hill to come out with a hockey game, too, but one with the accurate research that Title Bout put into their game, and not the amount of research they put into their other sports board games. The baseball game was fun, but very flawed, statistically, and the football 1957 season set had many unbelievable regulars listed, as well as statistical abnormalities. It's almost if the researcher said, "Ah, they won't know who played regular, in 1957! I sure don't!" S-O-M hockey is too far off in outer space to be reliable. The defensemen don't shoot NEARLY enough, so the company jacks up their scoring chances to compensate, instead of refining the game. That's no good! I want accurate goal totals, AND accurate shot totals. They have an excellent baseball board game, but I don't think they know enough about hockey now. I'd better shut up about this, or someone from S-O-M will come on, pretending to be a Title Bout fan, and say S-O-M hockey is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I think they'd be the only ones who would say that. Where's that little Canadian hockey board game company?

I'll meet you half way- I CAN'T get a computer right now, but I won't talk anymore about hockey board games on a Title Bout COMPUTER boxing website. I love old-time boxing history, so I'll be okay. I assume the computer game has the same rating system as the computer game, so I'm tuned in there. Back in the 1970's, boxing and hockey were virtually indistinguishable. Back to boxing.

Steamboat maybe some of the baseball guys on the OOTP board or the off topic area which more people see would steer you in the right direction. I haven't played a hockey board game in a long time and the last one i played was Strat O Matic as well. But i know there are atleast a few out there, I think some of them are foreign made but i believe its easily understandable.

The first two things I'll get, when I get a computer, will be Title Bout, a statistically based baseball game, and a statistically based hockey game, in that order. In the meantime, I need to find Dan Daily!
