What would you guys do?

I've been playing out a 70s welterweight universe for almost a year now, and have really had a blast watching some of my favorite fighters of that era square off. I'm now in early '76 where John Stracey has turned into an incredible champion. He has 10 title defenses with 9 KOs to his credit, including a 7th round KO of Pipino Cuevas. Cant say enough about how this guy has grown into such a great champion. Stracey is getting close to Post Prime however while Cuevas and Wilfred Benitez have just turned Prime. Stracey's next defense will be against and undefeated Benitez 12-0-1. In addition, the prospect that in a years time Ray Leonard and Thomas Hearns (and Duran in '78) will be entering the division, has me salivating. This will leave me FIVE great champions to pound on a division with roughly just 30 fighters total. Are there more seventies welters available from this era? Or should just i just go with fictional fighers to fill in the void. I really dont want to use fighters from other eras.

Thanks for any input.

I just did a search with my auto scheduler and found 51 WW in 1970, 39 in 1978 ... so it would appear that there are several to chose from if you go to cornerwork and download all the fighters.

Overall I have close to 700 WW in my database.

Stracey was a decent boxer, a very hard hitter and had a good chin. But his big weakness was that his defense was only fair and he did not have fast hands. I saw the Stracey/Palomino fight not long ago which shows Stracey's strengths and weaknesses.

I can see him beating Cuevas in a slugfest, but a prime Benitez would box him silly.

If i was you i'd take a stab at creating some boxers as well. The article on rating fighters is a great course in how to do this, and we could always be a back up to give a second opinion on how the stats look too.
