Little Side Project of Mine

I've created a webpage with links as a tribute site to "Sailor" Tom Sharkey. It's not done yet, as I'd like to include a short biography on the main page...as well as a few more things to touch it up, such as captions for the pics on the gallery page.

You can see it here:

Tom Sharkey Tribute Page

Unfortunately the page doesn't look very good unless you view it full screen. I'm not real website savvy.

I'm thinking about eventually expanding this project to a main site that pays tribute to the fighters who never quite attained the ultimate prize of a World Championship. It would probably include guys like George Chuvalo, Roland LaStarza, Jerry Quarry, Harry Wills, etc...

Thanks,
Mark

It has a nice look about it. I will read through what you have there later this evening. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Thank you for the "Sailor" Tom Sharkey site, one of my favorite fighters in boxing history. I share the same intrest in guys like Quarry, LaStarza, Roy Lazar, Cleveland "Big Cat" Williams,...even "Two Ton" Tony Galento...
As I'm getting back on my feet here, it will be interesting reading. Thank you Mark.

Thanks for the comments. The Tracy Callis link gives some very good insight into Sharkey's fighting ability and style. I was grateful that he allowed me to link that to my site. Mr. Callis is a very nice and knowledgeable individual.

Hootowl...I had forgotten about Cleveland Williams. He was another great top contender.

I've got more work to do on the Sharkey site, but after that I think what I'd like to do is provide a reference site for some of the great fighters who you don't hear about as much since they never were world champions. My next two planned fighters to feature are Roland LaStarza and Joe Choynski.

Here is a very rough draft of a main page to link to the fighters. (The Tom Sharkey link works):

The Contenders

The title of that site may also change. Anyone have any suggestions?

Great idea on the Contender site Mark! I like the concept very much and look forward to seeing it grow.
